Beautiful!!! Those puppies look great. Glad Mommy made it through OK. Angela <>< P.S. I'm a newbie. At the risk of sounding moronic - what is a "Biewer"? I realize that it must be a TYPE? I've seen the name mentioned in some threads and wondered....is there an article or website with more information? |

Very simply a Biewer (pronounced Bee var) is a parti yorkie with its roots in Germany. They have certain standards that they must meet and are registered in Germany at this time. Most of the standards except for color are those of the traditional yorkie. (size, coat, build). Colorwise they must have white belly, tip of tail (undocked), feet/legs. Head usually has white, but does not have to have white. The main registry in Germany is the IBC. There have been several clubs established in the US for the Biewers, and many of these are starting their own registries to help in keeping records to aid in AKC acceptance. Unfortunately the clubs do not agree with each other on all of the standards, so they are not working together to get these wonderful dogs accepted into the AKC. I feel that everyone working together is one of the most important issues the Biewer community faces. Unfortunately I have been the brunt of attacks by one of the clubs because I do not belong to their group. Makes for a lot of tension and not much fun at the dog shows. |
Oh I didn't mean to step into something - I was just curious. I've seen ads around here for "parti-yorkies" which I knew weren't accepted by the AKC. I didn't realize there were actual lines out there with legitimate colored yorkies - very cool. :-) Jack Russell Terriers weren't accepted by the AKC when we bought our first one growing up. Kind of neat to preserve an heirloom breed like that. Angela <>< |
I always like talking about my babies! Just makes me very upset that adults act like children. I know there is always going to be dissent among a group of people, but we really need to work together to get these dogs accepted. Acceptance takes a lot of hard work even when everyone is on the same page. |
Kathy, The pictures are wonderful--you got your batteries charged on the camera. |

4 Attachment(s) One week old!!! Skippy is doing much better, but I still supplement him 2-3 times a day. He is 5 oz today, which is still below birth weight, but at least he is not getting dehydrated anymore. Di is the only girl and the largest puppy. She is 8.5 oz. I will try to get pictures of the other two boys soon. Eddy is 7 3/8 oz and Mick is 5 5/8 oz |
