8 weeks old Yorkies & Biewer 4 Attachment(s) Time has really flown with these little ones. At 8 weeks old they are getting into everything, and puppy teeth on the toes hurt! CeCe, the little girl, likes to ride on the top of my flat mop. She is so funny chasing it around until I let her on. Of course we go much slower and don't get too much actual mopping done once she is aboard for her ride. Chubs likes his belly rubbed. They all want constant attention! It is easy not to get anything done. Here are pictures I took last night of each of them. 8 week's weights are: CeCe 1 pound 4.5 oz Chance 1 pound 6 oz Chubs 1 pound 13.5 oz Chubchubs 2 pounds 4 oz. |

They're beautiful. They do get to be a handful at this age and it's so much fun discovering the different personalities isn't it? |

Yes, they are all from the same litter. Mom, Hanny, is what is called a splitter. Her genes are split for traditional colored yorkies and Biewer colored yorkies. When she is bred to a Biewer (Biewers have only Biewer colored yorkie genes) She can have both traditional and Biewer colored puppies. Each of the traditional colored puppies has one gene for the Biewer coloring too. If we go by odds, I should have had 50% traditional and 50% Biewers. I guess the odds were against me on this litter. Her last litter (in Germany) she had 3 Biewers and on Traditional, so I guess that is where my other Biewer puppy went to! LOL |

How could you resist that face?? Few more questions....So if one of these traditional puppies with the Biewer gene is bred with another traditional yorkie Could they have a Biewer?? Or does both traditonal's have to both have the Biewer gene? Will the Biewer puppy cost more than his/her traditonal siblings?? If your not comfy answering a $$ question I understand... Iam just trying to get a feel for how this works...;) |
If two traditional colored yorkies with Biewer or parti genes are bred they should have a 25% chance of having a Biewer puppy. If you breed a traditional yorkie without this gene to a Biewer you will get all traditional looking yorkies. The puppies have to have 2 Biewer genes to look Biewer. Yes, the Biewer puppies are more than their traditional looking siblings. Pet prices usually start at $2500 and breeding run around $3500 for the Biewers. My pet prices for my traditional yorkies usually start at $850 and the breeding prices are around $2000. All breeders are registered in Germany and microchipped. Registration is quite high priced. The pets I usually do not register or micro chip unless it is requested. They of course get all the same care and vaccinations. |

Yes, it should hold true for the partis too. I am not sure about when they just have a bit of white on their chest though. |
So there is no way of testing a baby for piebald gene you just play the odds and breed....I think my next baby will be a Beiwer. I will continue to learn everything I can until my time comes..... ;) So the genetic make up, heath issues, and breed traits are the same in all 3 Parti, Beiwer and regular yorkie the only difference in the piebald gene which is a coloration gene. Am I getting this?? |
The only way I know of to insure that a traditional yorkie has the pie bald gene is if it is a splitter (one parent was a Biewer). Yes, generally the health issues and genetics are the same. Of course some yorkies do not have the piebald gene. Just as some do not have genes or tendencies towards large ears, roached backs or anything else that can show up. Remember at one time and to many Yorkie breeders now (esp. AKC), white is a major fault. One health issue that has not been seen with the general yorkie population, but in the Biewers has to do with the pie bald gene. It is thought that after breeding ONLY Biewer to Biewer for 5 or so generations that the dogs do not live as long. This is suppose to be the reason that many Germans will use a traditional yorkie to freshen the genes and some say keep the color. This is also one reason that I personally have two splitters, so that I will have longer to try for my perfect dog and their offspring will also not be that far down the Biewer to Biewer lines. Several of my Biewers are products of splitter/yorkie breedings too. |

Yes, any offspring of a splitter and a Biewer will either be a Biewer or a splitter. Forget the F1, F2 stuff. A so called F2 has no more chance of having Biewer puppies than an F1, unless it is a Biewer already. I have many dogs in my house, You ready? . . . . 3 Attachment(s) How could I forget the 4 puppies!!??! I have attached a picture of my husband with a few of the dogs. It was one of the first nice days in spring this year. We all went outside to enjoy the weather. The one picture is of Beauty barking at the horses from a safe distance. She can be so brave when she knows there is not a chance that she cannot be harmed! |

No that is Rishona, the one that lives with my daughter. I took her to 2 IABCA shows. At her first show she was Reserve BIS puppy!! Pretty good for a yorkie with a tail. At her second show the highest she placed was 3rd in the toy group (won the yorkies 3 times out of 4) |

Well, it is just one horse to bark at now. We moved the other horse to college with my daughter. She was needing to ride this summer to keep her legs fit. She rides on the KSU Equestrian team during the school year. Rocky went to live with Rishona too. My daughter offered to keep Rocky while my son gets moved from one place to another. He is commuting right now, so is not home as much as he would like with a dog in an apartment. |
