puppy rejected HELP
 
Help, I have a 1 week old female that has been rejected by the mother, she is the runt. I have been bottle feeding for 1 day, and now what? Will she digest or not, do I need to stimmulate body functions? If so how? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to let her die!!!!:confused:

you need to get some Essbilac puppy supplement and feed her that with a bottle or a syringe every couple of hours. yes, you do need to stimulate her to go potty. take a cotton ball dipped in warm water and gently rub her bottom. why do you think the mama has rejected her. can't you hold the mama down and put the little one on to nurse while you are there with them. she needs the colostrum from her mama. you can buy the Esbilac with colostrum added, (i think). mama's are very wise. often they sense that someething is wrong with the babies and will push them away. You need to cross post this in the breeders forum where the breeders will see it. the nursery mostly is where people show off how pretty the babies are and more people will view it on the other forum. good luck.

The most important thing is keep her hydrated and warm, you will need to stimulate her body to get her to pee and poo.
Do you have a heating pad that you can put in a box with her? Put it under the box or under a pad in the box.
This is a really good link to read about a little one that was hand raised it also has a recipe for puppy milk replacer.
Do you know how to tube feed?

This puppy is a week old, the runt of the litter. Lexy (mom) was doing fine with the other puppies, but has turned her back on this one. At this time I havethe baby with me and Lexy will lick the formula off the baby's face and then she will go away. I don't know what her problem is.:(

Yes I have a tube, where do I find the recipe at? I know that the formula is expensive, not that it takes alot. lol. thanks you have given me some real useful advice.

Where is the breeders froum? I will show pict. when I can get them off my camera.

I am also Morkie4 on MT...............she will be glad to help. Make a post for help........she will be there for you! She is having to care for one of her newly born pups as well..............and no, you don't need to own a maltese to join! She has said she will be glad to help you!:thumbup:

So Sorry to here about the mother. remember mother knows best there is a reason that she is rejecting her. Hang in there. Search thru yorkie talk place posts in breeders forum and dont give up. We are all praying for you. Keep us informed.
