I've been very hesitant on posting, because of what I've seen (not just here, but in other forums as well), but I can't stand it. Tell me what you think, our little Marilynn had a litter of 3 little girls, April 15th. She was a few days early and went into labor just as we we're pulling out of Texas Motor Speedway (I feel extremely terrible about that too). All born fat, healthy and happy. Marilynn is a wonderful Momma and Melvin (sire) is a little hurt at the sudden female overthrow in our home.:D

This is our first and last litter, all the puppies are spoken for, to approved homes. My Fiance's Grandparents as well as my Grandparents fell in love with our Yorkies and have been looking for one of their own, after Marilynn's breeding we learned of this. We both felt it was the best decision, so we agreed to give them a pup each. Plus I just would feel so hypocritical selling, when I've preached about the evils of BYB and unexperienced breeders. We will always be close to them and couldn't find a better home if we tried! Oh and we've decided to keep one, which is better than his original idea, keeping all 3! Plus the parents, the Siamese, and the Rottweiler, we've got a full plate.

More than anything I'm grateful they're healthy and so is Momma. So many things could have gone wrong and I don't want to risk it again.

congrats...they are soooo sweet. Don't ever feel bad about posting news like these wonderfull babies, just b/c of what some breeders might say. My oppinion is every breeder had their first litter too and they wern't experienced. I am sooooo happy about your little babies and that you found them such good home.All the best Maria

Congrats on your new babies. Take good care of mom so she can take good care of the little ones. Enjoy them, they grow so fast!

Sorry for so long on the updates, babies are almost 4 weeks old and doing great! I've started them on softened kibbles, which they love. I've been careful not to let Momma see me do it, just because our mentor (his Aunt who breeds Poms) was very adamant about such. She said, if the Momma sees that her pups are on kibble, she'll wean them and stop cleaning up after them altogether. I'm not ready for that just yet, and their teeth aren't quite in yet either.

No names yet, however it would be much easier if they were boys, as two of them #1 & #3 are sufficiently larger than #2 and look like tanks. I catch myself calling them Bruiser and Bouncer. However I am thinking of these names: Gabriela- Gabby, Issabella- Izzy, Olivia- Livvy/Libby. What do you think? Still not decided as personalities are just starting to become clear.

Momma has decided to become Houdini and escape on a regular basis from her whelping box. :mad: This is not good. It's a large box, big enough for a GSD (he built it, you know men) the sides are nearly 4 feet high, yet she manages to jump out of it. All I can say is at least the babies are healthy and doing well, so her absence won't be as much of an issue.

My Father has expressed interest in one of the girls now too. Which may leave us with zero, but maybe not. I think based on size and personality the largest girl would be his best bet. He has 5 other dogs and lives part time on his working ranch. At first I was skeptical, seeing his rough work load, but I've warmed up to the idea. He's always in his truck, commuting from the city to the ranch, in between his business and ranch, and he needs a smaller companion, plus living out in the country, they sometimes get "less than desirable" house guests, that a Yorkie would make quick work of. My only concern would be her size, but my Dad loves dogs more than people (I think) and I couldn't recommend a better owner.

Awwww ... what darling babies! Always amazes me how puppies that look like that -- just these little black and brown balls -- grow into Yorkies!:)

The only reason I hesitated is because, so many people (in a number of groups I'm in- not this one) are very, very, very against unexperienced breeders. Personally I am extremely against the BYB trend too. I basically didn't want to be lumped in the same group as so many first time breeders are. However, we did not breed with money on our minds, but our family instead. Our only concern was for our babies to be healthy, happy and well taken care of. In the event anything is to ever happen, we would love to take the puppy back. In fact, my biggest concern is giving them up!


Alright, enough of my ramblings, it's Monday, I've had some coffee and I've got 9 days until my vacation, I'm a little giddy. I could go on for pages on this subject, so I digress.
