Pups 7 1/2 weeks when do I completely wean? I replied to another post stating our pups were weaned at 6 1/2 weeks and was I ever fooled. I kept noticing they weren't eating the food much in their xpen the last 4 nights, then I noticed Dori's bags looking full again. So last night I got up at 3:00 and caught her in the pen with babies and they were just nursing to their hearts content..... She's not nursing during the day, just at night now. How long should I let this continue?? And I thought they were making it through the night all on their own:rolleyes: |
My litter is 7 1/2 weeks old and they eat lots of food, so I know they're not nursing much. When I let them out to play and they try to nurse, Chloe growls at them and pulls away. Her teats are not as full as they used to be. If you're really trying to wean them, try putting a onesie on her to cover the teats so they can't get to them. |

I will then relax and let them work out their own pace, so far they have on everything else and done fine without me:rolleyes: They do not nurse at all as I said during the day, so I guess at night until she weans them completely falls into the normal process. I'm learning....Thank-you both for responding to me, I appreciate you! |
Some feel nursing is too draining on the mom, but if she is in good health I let her decide when she's done. I don't let my pups go home until 11 or 12 weeks so they're always weaned by then. |
