Puppy Play My puppy seems to play pretty rough with other dogs. I can't see him doing it to be mean or hurtful, but I don't know what to do about it because I don't want him to continue with that behavior. Any advice? Anyone relating to this? I have a lil story about when he played with his sister, if you wish to hear about it. Thanks in advance! |
do you have other dogs at home that are older then him? if so, if he continues to play too rough with them they will put him in his place and remind him that that kind of play isn't allowed. its much easier for puppies to learn the rules of play and biting from other dogs then it is from people. that's why its a good idea to let the puppy stay with its mother till 12 weeks old. the puppy will learn good manners from its mother and siblings and other dogs in the house. |
Dogs usually handle that in thier own way. If he is getting too rough the others will let him know and eventually he will learn to play nice. If he is acting dominant, that is an entirely different issue and you need to let him know that YOU are the Lead Dog not him. |
We brought him home about 8 weeks, but I thought that was OK. There is another dog @ home, a Pomerian. The two of them usually play, but when the pom doesn't feel like it she jumps on the ledge and ignores him. All my puppy wants to do is play and I think he just gets carried away. |
