That is such a sweet picture!!! I know they love you for being their wonderful mom! |
You are such a wonderful momma for doing this and helping these pups grow up and healthy! Hats off to you. Keep those pictures coming.!! |
They have their eyes open now, and are SO CUTE!!!!! They are up to 5.3 and 5.6 ounces, the little one is catching up (probably because she tries to out eat her bigger sister! LOL) Not so big for being over 2 weeks old, but hey, when did size start mattering?? (In puppies at least, hehe) I have stretched them to every 4 hours now, and I am walking around with bloodshot eyes, in some sort of half zombie like status, but the babies are thriving, so it won't be long til they are standing up running around and lapping up their formula from a little bowl. As for the owner.. I have no idea. She left them with my MIL..who said she was "too old" to take care of them, LOL I got the call as I was on my way home from a show, stopped and grabbed them, and have been going ever since. I don't think the lady expects to get them back. I don't know who she is, nor do I care to. Fortunately I am not showing again til the end of April, so had some time to do this. Funny none of my girls will pay them any attention, but the puppies will LICK THEM CLEAN! :) I'll send some new pics when their eyes have been open a little bit and I'm not afraid the flash will hurt them. |
What a sweet Baby and she lucky to have you ! |
Also have orphaned pups- need your advice Congrats on getting your pups to grow under such awful circumstances- i am sorry you lost your dog. We, too, lost our dog- she had a fine delivery of 1 girl and 2 boys- 6 hours later, at the vet, she died of endotoxemia. It was a shock because she whelped so finely. Anyway, what advice can you offer me for our 3 pups- one is 3 oz and the other 2 were 3.5 oz- full term though. The vet informed us 1cc full of Nurturall-C every 2 hours- how did you do yours- since you have had success with yours, all advice would be great! thank-you bunches, rhonda:animal-pa:animal36 |
Hi Rhonda welcome to YT. You may want to post this in the breeder's forum. There are many experienced breeders that can give you good advice on your little ones. I'm sorry you lost mom. That would kill me if I lost any of mine. Elaine |
what a precious picture... your are doing a good job on this.. |
Such precious little ones. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of the momma. Sounds like your going a great job with them. Wishing you and the pups the best. |
Update orphaned puppies :animal-pa:animal36All 3 pups made it through the night- i have some hope from some very inspiring and encouraging responses- thank-you to all- i sent many emails out but didnt realize not to reply to the emails- (sleep deprivation- i guess the huge 3 lines of dont reply didnt even sink in) will try and send comments to all of you. the vet showed me how to feed the pups with the syringe- he did not seem like there was hope for them- but i am not giving up- they are full term- a huge advantage. They are peeing and pooping everytime i feed them but they seem to only get maybe 1cc down and that is with spillage. 2 of them seem to be getting the sucking instinct down but the runt, 3 oz, is really struggling with that. Does anyone know what the warning signs are if they are starting to die? I am trying not to get attached but it is impossible- i never knew you could love an animal this much, but it is true, you can. well, thanks again, i will try and figure out how to post the pics of them tomorrow- rhonda:animal36 |

Rhonda it sounds as if you are doing okay with them. I have also hand raised puppies. there is a lot of good advice on the thread you started yesterday. people on that thread are waiting for an update from you. just copy and paste thiss on your thread. it is very easy to get fluid in their lungs when you are trying to feed them. be very careful and try to stay calm. a 3oz puppies is a good size. do you have anyway to weigh them about three times a day so you can see if they are gaining. as they get stronger, you will need to increase the amount you are giving them. |
