New mom new yorkie Hi I'm so excited to announce that I got a new addition to my family a baby yorkie she's a little girl we haven't decided what to name her ye suggestions welcome. The only thing that I'm terrified is the breeder told me she was 8 weeks when actually she is 6 weeks confirmed by our vet. The breeder refuse to take her back for a couple of weeks so I have to be very cautious of her and make sure she's well taken care of I have everything the vet told me to get to make sure she does well. So our new adventure starts to day now I just have to see what personality she develops in order to name her but I'm excited to find her a name hopefully I can name her sometime this week. Thank you for reading and any suggestions welcome. |
Yikes! That's awful....I hope you have reported her! Does she have papers? Just wondering if the correct birthday is even on them. If she registers AKC or CKC I would definately turn her in! You are going to get tons of advice.....mine would be make sure that baby eats so she doesn't drop her sugar (happens quickly...symptoms are lethargy, stumbling etc) and be sure to have nutrical/nutristat on hand if this happens....give her a dose and them get her to a vet. Also keep her warm and make sure u have a safe place for her to be when u r not watching her (kennel or ex pen). My personal opinion would be to pee pee pad train her so she's not exposed to outdoors and other dog germs like parvo....that's the biggest one. Keep her at home ie no walks or pet stores etc. Vet only and don't let her down on surfaces ! Sorry....not trying to scare you I promise! These are some very important things with a pup so young! If your vet hasn't suggested it I would possibly go as far as giving her milk supplement with her food.....there are a lot of great breeders on here who will probably help u with the feeding stuff! Congratulations....but I am so sorry you have been mislead by the breeder....it's so sad people are like this! Please stick around! There is a ton of wonderfully passionate people here and a LOT of great information! |
Welcome to Yorkie talk :) congratulations on your new little babe, chickensmith had lots of good suggestions and I would definitely follow up with some research on signs and symptoms and treatment of hypoglycemia. That's great that you have already got her to the vet and are being so proactive. There is a lot of good info on here, I like the name Gwendolyn and you could call her Gwen or gwennie :yorkieg: can't wait for pictures! |
Welcome to YT, and congratulations on your new baby girl. Do be careful of such a young puppy, as chickensmith advised, no outdoor walks, vet visits keep her on your lap until she has had all she shots, Parvo is a serious issue. I would wait on the name, see what her personality is, you can usually come up with a name by living with her . One of my lived with no name for 2 months before I came up with one, I called her Baby until she got her formal name lol. |
New yorkie Hi and thank you and that's what I been doing if she's not on my lap she's in her crate she's only on the floor when she has to eat or use the wee wee pad but I'm very care full on who handles her and I am very cautious on letting outside people hold her because I'm scared she can get sic. I am holding out on naming her until she's a lil older but thank you for your advice. |

Congratulations!! I too am a new Yorkie mom, although I don't yet have my little honey. We met him yesterday and put a deposit on him. He is 8 weeks old (unless he's only 6 wks, hope not, that is terrible by the way to be lied to like that). We too are trying to figure out a name right now. Before choosing our little guy, we talked about names and "Gracie" was on our short list for a girl. I am very excited as you are, what a great adventure! God bless your little one and watch over her. I too would be very nervous to have one so young, as I have no experience. There's alot of information here and lots of people willing to share their knowledge, you will do fine.:animal-pa |

That's true I do let her walk the only problem is she only wants to be held lol so it's fine if I don't have her my son does so you can say she's really spoiled. |

check your laws and see if you have the lemon puppy law, if any thing happen they are still responsible. I hope all goes well, did the vet think the puppy was in good health other wise? Sparkle75 |

Ive had that problem too I purchased a yorkie puppy I named Onyx almost 2 months ago she was supposed to had been 6 weeks old but when I got her she had no teeth wasn't eating hard food and smelled of urine I felt so bad for her I just had to have her. I boiled chicken and rice for her for a week or two adding a little soft food as well as soaking the hard kibbles. Now she is a beautiful 2.5lbs 13week old princess who's being loved and spoiled tremendously. |
