Lil Pips born 5/11/14 Pics 2 Attachment(s) Pips is coming home tomorrow. I wanted to set up this paeg to document his growth. He was 2.5 oz at birth. He is 7 wks two days and weighs l lb. He is the smallest of the litter of five (two girls, three boys ranging from 2.5 to 4.8 oz at birth). Both of his parents are AKC and weigh 5 lbs. I am a stay at home so spend 24/7 with my fur babies. I also have a 14 lb male Biewer, Bailey who is 6 yrs old. |
Lil Pips fourth of July photos from breeder 2 Attachment(s) The breeder sent me these photos today of Pips. He is trimmed and bathed and ready to come home. So nice of her!! |
He is cute, and oh so tiny. I am just surprised that the breeder isn't keeping him with his mommy until 12 weeks, which is recommended, especially since he is so small. It is a very important time for his health and socialization to be with mom. I highly recommend that you consider leaving him longer as 7 weeks and 1 lb. is just too early. |
He is way to young to be coming home he should be with his mom until 12 weeks. |
Congrats ! He is a cutie. . . I would see if he can stay a few more weeks. The toy breeds tend to have a slower maturity rate then the large breeds. Also they learn 8-12 weeks socialization and bite inhibition skills. Also make sure you have Nurical on hand. |
Congratulations on your new pup, Pips! He sure is a cutie! |
Congrats on your new puppy! Pips is adorable. ! Please share more pics when you pick him up, and good luck, you must be very excited ! |
How is Pips doing! He's been home now 5 days :) I'm sure he's getting lot's of hugs and kisses |
Thanks for asking. He is doing very well. I'm taking him to vet tomorrow just to weigh him I want to make sure he is gaining since he was only 1 lb last sat. Where are you taking chester for vet in Melbourne? |
He is sooooo tiny - can't wait to see more pics of him! |
New pics off Pips 7/3/14 2 Attachment(s) Well, an update for Pips - he's doing quite well. He is completely paper trained. He wakes me up once a night to go potty and goes right back to sleep. I have no complaints, he's been a total joy. Loves to play with his toys and a real cuddlebug. I am feeding him four ttimes a day to make sure he's gaining weight. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow to check his weight progress. New photos just taken. He just ate a big meal so I put him in his crate so he doesn't burn off those calories before he goes down for the night. :) He's laying next to me on my bedside. |
Their off US-1 just north of 520 Their really good, we been taking our Yorkie that passed their for a long time |
Update on Pips he's 8-1/2 weeks old. He us sleeping in his crate inside his pen in the kitchen. He has full access to his ppads water and food. I put him in around 9 pm and I feed him at five am. He is so good. Still not liking dry food yet. Trying to transition any advice appreciated. |
I estimate you'd feed an eighth of a cup of food twice a day. Its a little handful. I feed wet food around 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, and leave a little dry food out for them all the time. If you order the 20 lb bag of Lifes Abundance, it should last a long time. The autoshipment of L.A. will save you on shipping, and get you the best price for the dog food. >>> Hypoglycemia this is a good way to make sure your puppy doesnt run out of energy or blood sugar, which will cause hypoglycemia. Their tummy is too tiny to eat enough at one meal to last all day. They have to be able to get to the food during mid day, to re fuel. Make sure they learn where the food is so when they feel low, they can go snack. I soak their Lifes Abundance dry food with hot water for about 1 minute at first. >>>>>>> Soon you can stop the soaked food and just feed the dry. At first give them a choice, and make sure to leave some dry food down during the day and night, where they can get to it all the time. If they are on a hunger strike and will not eat, you can drop a few drops of chicken broth on their LA food to encourage them to eat it. Be aware of whats in your chicken broth... some have onions or MSG which are not healthy for dogs. |
Pips is absolutely adorable & love his name too!! (My dog's name is Pippi after Pippi Longstocking .. lol) I'm glad he's happy & healthy. He is still soo small!! How much does he weigh now?? |
