10 week old Morkie puppy Hello all! I bought a 10 week old Maltese/Yorkie puppy two days ago and yesterday he stopped eating and has vomited 4 times since yesterday, he is very lethargic and will not eat, does Anyone have any suggestions? |
bumping... Hang on hon, others will be around to help soon, is there any other information you can add? Is he drinking, pooping peeing? How is he generally other than that? Hoooooold the phone, I just saw his age...10 weeks? How much does he weigh? You need to get this pup vetted asap. 10 week old pup can go down hill very quickly. please update??? |
To the vet ASAP!!! I was just at the vet with my 9 month old and she was not eating and had vomited just once......she has an intestinal infection with a temperature! She is on antibiotics and a chicken and rice diet for a few days. They can dehydrate quickly! Get her to a vet, today! |
Marley Update Yes! He is 10 weeks old and I have tried to get him in a vet but the said it would be $200 just to see him. I have given him the Karo syrup, I went out bought the soft food, mixed the syrup, food, and water and put it in a syringe. He seemed to perk up, even walking around and trying to get away from me after I fed him through the syringe. I am having trouble deciphering what is home sickness, or sadness from being moved, and him being sick. He has pooped twice since Friday, neither was runny and he has been peeing, he is sleep again now. How much should they be sleep, should he be playing or is he too small for that still? |
Please check your baby's gums. Tell me what they feel like and the color. I'm really afraid hearing about your baby, particularly that he's lethargic. Please update. Your baby needs to be seen by a doctor. |
If he is lethargic, you need to get Karo syrup rubbed in his mouth NOW. If he will lick it off your fingers let him lick about 1 taspoon of syrup...if he wond lick it from a spoon, get it into his mouth, in case it is hypoglycemia that has him lethargic....if it isnt his sugar being low, it isnt going to hurt him, but if it is hypoglycemia, it will save his life until you can get him to a vet ASAP. |
Hopefully you are at an emergency vet now and can't update...please let us know what's happening when you can. |
Karo syrup first and than vet. like suggested above !! Some pups just dont do well when they leave the only home they have known and can refuse to eat do to stress and confusion. It just takes them time to bounce back. I would suggest mixing his dry kibble (puppy food) with a little can (puppy food) and a bit of water. Hopefully that will work. At his age he should be eating 3-4 small meals per day. If you see that he isn't eating that offer it to him again and again until he does. If he wont eat the dry/can mixed blend that try can puppy mixed with moistened kibble. Put some dry kibble in a dish and cover with water. Let set until it absorbs all of the water (1- hr). If he does well with that than make enough for the day the night before so you have it on hand for meal times the following day. The breeder should have discussed Hyproglycemic Shock with you and how to prevent or treat it. I really hope that this pup is ok, hope for an update soon ! |
Yes the vet is expensive but if you are unwilling to pay for the added expense you shouldn't have gotten a dog. Vomiting in pups is a serious issue especially when not eating. Besides he should get a basic checkup and blood work done to make sure he is healthy and has no underlying issues. Please get him in ASAP. |
Just so you know his gums should be moist and dark pink in color. Anything else (white or grayish brown) is cause for concern. He should be eating, drinking and yes, even playing but he also should be getting lot of rest afterwards too. If he play too much without the proper nutrition and rest he could go into shock. Hope for an update on this little fella soon, Very worried ! |
