I am confused about my pup 2 Attachment(s) Ok so I have a question tilly had 5 puppies. All healthy and happy. S of the puppies matured normally and one looked different to the others... She has ears like a jrt. At first look you would think cross bred but I made sure no unexpcted dogs "got" to tilly any ideas what happened? I have a photo of her with her brother and one of her on her own ... sorry about the sideways view |
Some Yorkies have floppy ears. |
2 Attachment(s) Herea's a close up |
Oh she is just beautiful! I want her!!!! I can't have her, but I just love the look of her!!!!! I actually think she looks a lot like my boy, Blazer. Blazer is only 3/4 Yorkie and 1/4 Shih-Tzu, though. |
I think she looks yorkie. If you know that's all she can be I wouldn't worry about. Unless in the breeding line one was not yorkie |
i'm not too worried as i witnessed the tie etc.... she is just so different. i have to work out how to handle her coat lol. it is short and thick except the ears which is a mix of short and long hair. |
is very normal, my mentor breeder calls them throw backs, I have one right now too.. she looks VERY different than the other 3 females , and she is VERY small, is just a different combination of the DNA my mentor said. But they are still the same breed and the same as the rest of the litter.. hugs,:) |
i like this throw back ;) she likes kissing people :D |
She is a cutie |
How cute, they always change so much in a short space of time, my mam when I looked after her pup he's now 8 yrs old she got back from weeks hol to say I broke her dogs ears as the were no longer standing up lol |
She may be teething (probably is) and if so, the cartilage goes soft in the ears as the calcium is used for tooth development. Also, you can try a couple of things: 1. Use a trimmer (I have a Wahls mustache trimmer from Wal Mart) to trim the upper 1/3 of the ears to make them easier for the dog to hold up. Just be careful not to hurt the ears. 2. Use masking tape strips between the ears for a day or two to keep them up, but be careful when taking it off. |
I feel at this age the hair on the ears don't matter so much and if you want to give them some help standing on their own just go ahead and shave the entire ear front and back. Thats what I did with all of mine. I hate the edea of using tape, tried it with my first Yorkie and I regret it. If was painful for him and I will never do that again. Could be that I used the wrong kind of tape but still never agian. By the way she's Adorable.... looks like a Yorkie to me. And if you whitnessed the tie she fine a 100% Yorkie. |

She is adorable! My little girl has floppy ears and we love the look. Our male (my avatar) has big antenna ears (of course we love his look too). |
I don't think I would've ever use "tape" on my babies, love them with ears up or down and if any one said they didn't look like yorkies for that reason that would be there problem and I would tell them that. Both pups look cute as ever |
