Baby Grooming Gracie is 11 weeks old and I am starting to teach her to be still for grooming. She got a bath today, and a blow dry, and a brush. She really would not sit still for her little bow, and in all honesty, the only way we got through it was if I held her down or picked her up so she couldn't get away. When I see the yorkie grooming on youtube the dog is always perfectly still through the entire thing! How do I teach her this? I know this is way to young to expect this great behavior, but I think I should at least begin teaching her. Also, I have not started brushing her teeth yet, but I do have her toothbrush and puppy toothpaste. Any suggestions on how to tackle this one too? Thanks! |
my advice would be just go slow and do a little at a time... with the teethbrushing it may take a little longer. the first few times just let her lick a little paste off the brush. then you can try just brushin her front teeth.. in time hopefully she will not mind having it done..:) |
I saw a method in a store the other day, but haven't tried it myself. One of the groomers stuck the blowdryer inside her shirt, with the blower part sticking out, where it was hands free. Idk how it works, but it seemed like a new way of doin it. |

Try LOTS of treats!! Jazi jumps into my lap for her bows now!! And she likes to sniff the new ones I make for other people!! She's crazy for bows!! |
I'd say, lots of treats and make it fun fun fun! But it takes awhile and your baby is still very young.... |
