Our Home is Blessed Again. 1 Attachment(s) The SWHouston Pack is proud to announce the arrival of our newest member… Ichabod (Ickey for short). Ickey, a Male, was born on September 3rd 2012, was just over eight weeks old, and weighed 2.0 (roley poley) Lbs, upon arrival here with us. If he were going to be placed in a Furever home as a single Pet, one would certainly want to wait another month, where his socialization process would have matured. However, in this case, he is being placed into an established Pack, with dogs of various ages. I consider this the only acceptable reason, for moving an Animal at this early age. Sneakers, Becca and Ichabod have a common Sire and Dame. This couple has a history for birthing pups, which mature to weights greater than Standard. Sneakers, at Four years old now, weighs just over 13 Lbs. Becca is a very robust Female, and at her age of Two, weighs just over 8 Lbs. However, given Ickey’s present weight and frame, I am anticipating a lesser mature weight than his older Male Sibling, but, still expect his Application to the YT Teapot Club to be forthcoming. I can already tell he’s going to be a little Terror… He’s quite strong willed, plays vigorously with the Toys, and chases his sister Becca (4x his size) around the yard. Sneakers is presenting his “Hay kid, remember I’m the Alpha around here” attitude, but I’m sure will warm up to Ickey before long. Our Breeder has taken care of the preliminary inoculations, Tail Docking, and Ickey is scheduled for his introductory visit to our regular Vet on Thursday, for a Wellness Exam and Microchip. When making the appointment, I could visualize the smile on our Vet’s face, when he herd I had gotten another Dog. $:p$ |
Oh my! Congratulations! What a little cutie! |

Just an update... When the Vet Tech weighted Ickey Thursday, he had gained 0.2 Lbs, from the time he arrived. He's going to be a little Fuzwhopper ! Thank all of you for your kind words, and yes I agree... He's definitely a Cutie ! :luvu: |

Just an update... Ickey was hitting the Potty Paper 98% of the time on his second day. (That may be a residual from the Breeders training) And on the third day, he was pushing through the Doggy Door, just like my big guys do. (monkey see monkey do, I think) It's REALLY nice to have Roll Models ! ;) I have a large (securely fenced) back yard, and he is moving around it like he owned it (all of it). Same attitude as my other two had/have. :D All in all, He's going to be a real contribution to our Pack, and I'm SO glad I got him. |
Congratulations! He sure is a cutie pie :D It sounds like he's fitting in already! |

He's feisty as can be, and "nips" a lot (typical puppy). My Male Sneakers has got his attention with a couple firm bites to the back of his neck, and Ickey is quite well behaved around him, however... Becca is beside herself. Ickey senses her subordination to Sneakers, and pushes her constantly, following her around, jumping up nipping at her ankles, just a TOTAL pest. Becca doesn't often "ask" to be picked up, but recently I've had her in my lap more than she's been on the floor. Understand please, that my two residents completely respect that Ickey is a puppy, and, neither have "brought blood" when Ickey became intolerable. I've been encouraging Becca to be more forceful with him, but, she is a female, and probably thinks (to a point) that Ickey is her puppy, and a Male. So she may expect a rather dominant roll from him, and is naturally more tolerant. Given my "Pack" mentality, I don't interfere when they are disciplining Ickey. Both Sneakers and Becca must understand that they have my consistent support. Ickey is the new kid on the block, and must accept that at some point. |
Oh, I see you got Ichabod on Halloween! Love his unique name. Ickey is cute for short. Fits him - sounds cute to just say Ickey. He's such a lovebug. I love his little ears. He sure sounds like a handful and then some. I've been watching Animal Planet's "Too Cute" about puppy and kitty babies and am wishing I had my very own Ichabod right about now. I'd gladly put up with pottytraining, yowling & howling from the crate at night, chasing him around the house and endless nipping and chewing on everything just to have a puppy in the house again. Glad you are letting the pack deal with Ickey and teach him pack ways while you keep overall order. Enjoy your wonderful baby boy and can't wait to see pix of the whole pack together. Nothing more fun than a group of dogs together! |
