What age do yorkies normally stop growing?
 

I'm curious my dog is 5 months and she is about 5 lbs already.

My vet told me 2 years. I know for my boys it was definitely that long if not longer. When my boys were 18 months (1.5 years) they were 4.2lbs and 6.2lbs. At 4 years old they were 5.5lbs and 8.9lbs. Now at 6 years old they are 5.5lbs and 13.5lbs. (my bigger boy got fixed at 4 years old and he chunked out big time after that!) The vet thought they might have been done at 18 months but they both had another pretty significant growth spurt after that!

Ziva weighed 6 lbs at one year, but now weighs just over 7 at two years, she also got a bit longer and taller over this past year- I think she is done!
She also no longer has the silver hair in her avatar picture- all gold now!

Princess held steady at 6.9lbs. for months, then a little after her first year she jumped to 7.9 then 8lbs. 6oz. & is now holding steady at 8 even. She's just over a year & a half. She was spayed & I read that can add about a pound. She looks good, not pudgy, I wonder if she's done?

I also think around 2 years old. Carmel was steady at 5.5 lbs and now at 2 years old, he's around 6 lbs, but Emma haven't grown much...We'll see what happens...

Mine seemed to have topped out when they were 5/6 months old...only to gain slightly after the one year mark when they starting filling out/getting more muscle mass. Those charts weren't accurate at all with any of them.

My girls' vet said their skeletal system stops growing at about 8 months, but soft tissue continues to develop (muscles, organs). Their vet also says the other misconception is having your dog spayed or neutered will make them bigger. Typically a dog's activity slows down at a certain age. This means feed them less. If you can feel their ribs but not see them, they are fine. A lean dog is a healthy dog. All three of our Yorkies get 1/4 of a cup of Wellness for small breeds in the morning and 1/4 of a cup in the evening (every 12 hours). Their only treats are bits of carrots, apples, and a few pieces of their dog kibble or dehydrated lamb's lung during the day for being good. This has all been approved by their vet. My two-year-old weighs six pounds and my parents' 1.5-year-old also weighs six. They have weighed the same for over a year. My five-month-old weighs just under 4 lbs, but is fed the same amount because she runs circles around the other two, but I am already transitioning her to adult food (as suggested by her vet). She's getting spayed next week (poor baby). Each dog is different. Before changing your dog's diet or having her/him spayed or neutered, talk to his/her vet. I can't speak for male dogs, but for our girls, I believe there is a health benefit in having your dog spayed before her first heat.
