I'm still learning and still make mistakes. And I still at times walk out of the ring with my mentor sitting ringside will still critique me..... Let me add, some of the most experienced exhibitors get pre-ring jitters. That's why you always have mints to pop in your mouth....your dog can smell your nerves. |
When I thought about showing earlier, I had a real sense of dread, probably due to lack of preparation. This time it feels kind of exciting......now if I can just get Junior excited about the prospect ...... |
Love the name. |
What a beautiful little boy!! I love that head!! I wish you much success and I hope Jr makes all your dreams come true! I can't wait for puppies again someday :) |

1 Attachment(s) I'm behind on getting any pics, but here's one taken today. It's the only one that turned out decently. My camera doesn't do so well indoors unless the subject is still and that's hard to do with Junior. Junior is now 8 1/2 weeks old and weighs 1 pound, 11 ounces. He's doing really well, eating good and wanting to play all the time. I've introduced him to a couple of my girls and he's excited to see them, but he comes back to my lap pretty quick, using it as home plate LOL. Darla still spends most of her time with him. He still nurses but is eating more than nursing. As you can see from the pic, his color is breaking on his face and head. His back hasn't started breaking yet. He's still a squatty little boy, measuring 6 inches at the shoulder and 7 inches from base of neck to base of tail. Both ears are up when he alerts to something, but the left ear still tips a little most of the time. I'll try to get some better pics of him soon. I may just take him outside as my camera does better with natural light. |

From the looks of him he's going to have a wonderful rich tri colored tan. You don't want him to break on his back too young.....I prefer about 9 months of age. Squatty? I don't think so 6 inches at 81/2 weeks of age.....nice size.....still looks leggy to me. He's just beautiful Jim.... |
I must say I'm not experienced at all, but I HAVE looked at a LOT of puppy pictures... and I must say... your little junior is THE most gorgeous pup I've ever seen... He just LOOKS perfect. If that makes any sense at all? He grabs my attention and makes my jaw just drop. Instead of going, "Awwww cute puppy." I'm like, "Wow, that pup is amazing." You'll be a wonderful daddy and you deserve the little guy. You've earned him tenfold karma wise by just helping out here! |

That's so sweet of you to say that, Furbaby Friend. I'm blushing now :blush08:. Mary, when I said 'squatty', I mean he's still showing a nice short loin and it gives him a little bit of a squatty appearance. He certainly has plenty of leg...I hope not too much. And I love his gold, too. I have tried working with him just a little. He's such a squirmbucket. It's hard to just comb him and do a little trimming. He's even less cooperative with stacking. I think he needs more of an outlet for his energy and then he would settle down a little more. Though he's not vaccinated, I trust my yard and may start taking him out for a little spurt. Up til now, I've just been wanting to get that bond with him. That has been a resounding success. Now it is time to put that trust to work and start getting him to cooperate a little. Mary, at what age should I try putting him on a lead? Is now too soon? |

One thing I like is that he's showing decent size. I was afraid he'd wind up like his sire...too small. It's a long shot, but if the right combination happened, there's a good chance he'll become a fine dog. Considering my initial reluctance to use Nemo as the sire, I'm really happy so far. Just wish there was another pup to see how consistent this pairing can produce. Ah, well, we play the hand we're dealt sometimes...... |

Not sure if you to your own vaccinations, but if your vet does them....Make sure that he isn't put on a table to vaccinate him. You want him to have no negative experiences on a table. |

I do my own vacs so he shouldn't be at my vet's until after his last one when he gets his first blood test. |
3 Attachment(s) A couple more pics.... The legs are exaggerated in the last pic. He's really not *that* leggy :p. |
Junior looks like a happy pup! I too especially like his face. They change so fast at this time. Does he like squeaky toys? |
He really is a gorgeous boy. I can't wait to follow his career! :) |

I don't have any squeaky toys for him. He does like the chew toys, though. Quote:

Jim is he gorgeous, and I do hope he gets you into the ring..I must watch for updates on the two of you...:) |
He's just beautiful. Jim. He has the sweetest face. Enjoy him! |
Thanks, all. I can't believe how much he's changed from the earlier pictures. I see him all the time so he doesn't seem so different until I compare with the earlier pics. Guess I need to take photos more often. He's growing up so fast. I am really having fun with him now. He's still a baby but is getting more puppy-like every day. He sleeps less and plays more and is becoming a typical boy. I still haven't heard him make a noise yet, but I'm sure he'll find his voice soon. I suppose I should appreciate the quiet for now... |
