Congratulation's on your new baby. I hope someone can give you some advice. Just make sure you have nutrical on hand in case of low sugar. |
mine came home at 9 weeks, i think the easiest thing you could do would be to try and powder up some dry kibble with a really really high quality, most on here use wellness or natural balance i believe. i used royal canin indoor puppy. did your breeder give you any dog food to feed the pup??? they shouldh ave and you should be feeding him/her that for at least a couple weeks before you slowly will transition into another better food if you'd like to change it. try to break down the dog food into powder, you can add yogurt or something for flavor. you could even try boiled chicken pieces or something. that baby has to eat...did you not ask the vet how to feed the baby?? they will know call them... and yes please have nutrical or karo syrup on hand at all times... i had to add here: getting a heck of a deal because something is wrong with the puppy is not the most responsible thing to do, this is a life not a toy, you really should have made sure you weren't supporting a breeder who lets a sick 5 week old puppy go to a new home. that's very irresponsible on both parties. |
It is illegal to sell a puppy under eight weeks old in Indiana. If this puppy doesn't walk right, most likely you are looking at big vet bills and possibly heartache. Better to save your money awhile longer and get a puppy from a reputable breeder. http://www.animallaw.info/articles/o...ysaletable.htm I would return this puppy right away and report the breeder for violating the law. Rachel, I thought Sadie was seven weeks when you got her, not nine like you said in your post? |

she's a little miss piggy now, i can't free feed her anymore because she has no self control and will eat it all...lol |
I also agree with Ladymom, that is way too young to leave the litter and if you have a law in your state return that puppy before you have many problems. Sometimes there is a good reason for such a good deal, good luck. |
He probably walks funny because he is still so young! Put a little puppy formula in a dish (or goats milk) and put him on your lap and try to get him to lap up the formula. Do this at least 4 or 5 times a day. After a while you can add a little bit of very finely ground meat (or beef baby food - the kind with nothing added to it) and a little bit of ground (very fine) puppy kibble (high quality). A puppy that is being weaned needs 90 calories per pound of body weight a day. Good luck. |
Thank you all for responding he is eating lil better today but not much he ate some yogurt and puppy forumla the vet said the other vet the guy tock the pups to may of even gave the shots wrong and put him in his legs and vet said no brakes or anything and are vets checking him in 3 weeks and if he dont regain full strengh in his legs i will be okay with is becuas why i got the puppy is becuas i need something when i am down in bed with my illness he would be something small cuddly and would give me some good responabltys and when im haveing bad day i know i have to get up take him out and Lady i did not know that thank you for imforming me that in are area of IN they do not flow that becuas are other dog we got him at 6 weeks but would make seens why the guy said he was 9 weeks old the breeder did not tell me any brand of food he just told me to give him milk if i could not get him to eat I wounder to if they were giveing the puppy cows milk some becuas we got it off a amish and that can hurt the health of a puppy becuas it needs more nutrin rachel we did not know he was onley 5 to 6 weeks old we thought he was 9 becuas thats what we were told im going to try and put some of the fourmla on his food see what happens thank you all |

I am not a professional breeder by any means but I do have 5 happy healthy 8 week old puppies. I was told by other breeders here to offer our puppies ground up (put it in a blender) puppy kibble (Chicken Soup for the puppies lovers soul is what I use) by 4 weeks to START the weaning process which takes awhile. At about 5 to 6 weeks the puppies on their own would eat the ground up kibble and loved it. At 7 weeks we gave them the kibble without grinding it again they love it. My puppies are 8 weeks old today and their momma has weaned them over the past week. If they try to nurse now she growls at them. I think just making sure the pup eats and drinks and gains weight (you have to weigh him daily) and call your vet if anything changes. Good Luck! |
Harley125 I'm sorry to hear that your yorkie puppy isn't as well off as he/she should be and the breeder you got him/her from shouldn't be breeding yorkies if they will sell sick yorkies, especially if they are just in it for the money. But anyway, I breed yorkies here in Tx and your problem can me fixed with giving your yorkie goat's milk which can be purchased at your local grocery store. The goat's milk acts like the mother's milk and with give your yorkie puppy the nutrishin and strenght that he/she will need to live a happy and healthy life. It will also help in strengthen his/her bones and he/she will be walking like normal in no time. good luck and if you have any more questions look me up. oh and make sure you alway have some nutrical or karo syurp on hand in case his/her blood sugar gets too low and you can tell when that happens cause your yorkie will develop the shakes and/or the twiches. Hope this helps. |
Harley125 PS. if your going to start your yorkie on puppy food (which he/she should start to eat at 5 wks old) you need to either add water or goat's milk to the puppy kibble so that they can eat it while there teeth are still developing. |
