Parti Gene Carrier? 2 Attachment(s) Hi Everyone! I was wondering if some of you who had Parti yorkies could tell me if the new litter of pups that my Gidget just had could possibly carry the parti gene? Arn't they cute? They are 1 1/2 weeks today! |
Yes, they're very cute! They do have quite a bit of white but I don't really know enough about the parti's myself to say for sure. Hopefully someone more educated will pop in and let you know! |
It does look like they have the parti gene. Especially the second pup with white toes and so much white on the chest. Congrats on the new babies, they are adorable!! |
I would be interested to see some on post yes or no to your question.. I know some yorkies have a good bit of white and he goes away as they get older.. anne |

Thanks for everyones reply. |
Is that white fur coming in on the pup's chin? If so-I'd say its most likely a parti carrier. |
The white markings are not definitive "proof" either are a parti carrier. Lots of yorkie puppies have the same markings...unless you know there are parti's in your lines...it's likely they are not carriers. Excerpt from this thread - http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rt-thread.html There may be a white star or a small blaze located on the fore chest in the tan, or across the black and tan. This is a much looked-for point, as it is an indication that the puppy will probably be a good coat grower in quantity, though not necessarily in quality. It is also an indication that there will be no melanism, or over-supply of pigment. It is not unusual to find small white marks on one or more toes, or a fine white line on lower forjaw. These will not be visible as an adult. Any such marks should therefore be noted wherever you keep such records, as one is apt to forget which puppy had them after they grow up. |
My traditional yorkies have had this much white before and it disappeared as they got older. |
I would say no, they are not parti carriers. Many of my yorkie pups have white on their chest like that and it does disappear with time. |

The little boy in the litter with her was born with a much smaller patch of white on his chest, a small amount on his neck and no pink feet. He also has one back paw with 2 toes of a tad of white. He most likely will lose this as he grows older. The other male in the litter is solid black and tan with no traces of white. I will post more pictures soon. I am just curious but no worries, I LOVE THEM just the same. :-) |
