Help! i got my yorkie pup 2 days ago..and hes the sweetest little boy. When we are around he is happy and will sleep, but when we leave him he will whimper, cry and bark, i dont know if he is getting good sleep at night. I am not going to crate train him, because he already knows how to use the Peepads and i will allow him to run around the house even when i am not there. My friend told me to let him cry and soon he will stop. Is this the right thing to do? |
He is probably overwhelmed if you are letting him room around the house. I would suggest getting an xpen or playpen and line the bottom in plastic with a blenket or potty pads in it so he doesn't have as much space. My female cries whenever she is not around me also, and is gradually getting better. He likely will stop or at least lesson it. Depending on his age it might not be a good thing to let him wear himself out to much. He might get low blood sugar if he does not have his proper rest. I personally crate all my dogs because they sleep better. It is like a den for them and they feel safe and have a spot that is all there own. Crating is a personal choice many people don't do it. He would likely not cry at all if you had him in a crate or something else in you bedroom sometimes all they need is to hear you breathing and just to know you are still there. It is very scary to be left alone in a new strange house all alone. But if you start having him in your room you may have a hard time changing that if you want to when he gets older. Good luck! |
