My yorkie is 3.6 punds and pregnant I am not 100 percent but pretty sure that she is. She and my male were stuck together and I read that it's a clear sign. Is that true? My girl is only 3.6 lbs and my boy is 3.8lbs I am worried that there could be complecations. Should I go to the vet to esblish that or are they just going to charge me unnecessary money. The girl is 1 year and the boy is only 8 months. What should I expect? |
You might want to post this over at the breeding section. If it was me I would go straight to the vet. I first would research around to find one that is fimilar with small dogs or yorkies. Was this her first heat? That is really young and small to breed. I hope the little thing makes it. |
If it was my 3.8 lb dog, I believe I would take her right to the vet and see about getting her spayed. She is way too small to be giving birth, it would seem very risky for her. |
I'd go straight to the vet 3.6 is toooo small to have babies. I'd get her fixed right away. |
Sorry but I can't offer any advice but I can send BEST WISHES that everything works out for her. She is awfully tiny. Good Luck !!! :animal-pa |
WOW ..... she is small .... you need to take her to the Vet ..... she needs to be seen asap ...... just in case she is preggo ..... Hope everything will work out !!!! |
I know this has been said.. but she is small... I personally would not breed that tiny..and with no experience other then seeing problems on this forum.. I too would go to the vet...even tho the dad is small... does not mean he will throw tiny babies..for his pedigree would tell you that.. you can have a small female and a small male, this does not mean they will just throw tiny babies.. if background pedigree's are larger and puppies are too large.. you could have serious problems and even lose you girl.. hope this helps..anne |
Good luck to you. She is a tiny one (did someone say that?) and so young. I would also highly recommend going to your vet. Her reproductive system is the equivalent of a 12 year old girl. That puts her in a very high risk category. |

Can I ask WHY you let this happen ? 3.6 lbs is so small & she's just a puppy herself at only one year old. :( Getting 'the girl' checked out isn't spending unnecessary money especially if you think she's pregnant. This isn't directly aimed at you but - I wish people would be responsible for their pets. There's just way too many people totally ignoring the fact that the shelters are full and letting their dogs mate....:( Not to mention - so many are breeding yorkies now - this gorgeous breed is losing 'the look' that attracted so many of us to them and I won't even touch the many MANY health issues we're seeing now with all the indiscrimate breeding going on. Sorry - I had to say that. People ....if you have a male and female PLEASE put some thought into what you're doing ! |

Welcome to YT. It is really important to have your girl spayed. She is too small to be having pups and your vet should have recommended this be done when she was 5 or 6 months old. I hope someone experieneced with breeding will be able to help you. Please consider having her spayed right away to prevent it from happening again. Good Luck Elaine |

:goodpost: Having an intact male and female dog in the same household is a disaster waiting to happen. One has only to read the health section here to see how rampant liver shunts and luxating patellas are in Yorkies now. Irresponsible breeding has taken a huge toll on this wonderful breed. Please everyone, get your dogs spayed and neutered and leave the breeding to the experts! |

And to the OP, I hope and pray that your little girl will be ok. She really is WAY too small to be having babies  My heart just breaks for her. PLEASE GET HER TO THE VET. |
There was a thread recently about a yorkie busting through a door and getting to a maltese female. The owner was actually surprised! If you have an intact male and a female in the same house, things like this will happen. I cannot fathom why you wouldn\'t fix at least one, preferrably both pets. And then to be surprised by the outcome, if they aren\'t fixed??? I don\'t get it. I hope the best for your very small girl. It would be a scary thing for me to try to let her have the pups. The chance of losing her would be enough for me to make my decision. Good Luck. |
Ok I think enough is enough, she came here for help not bashing. Although i agree the female is to small. But accidents Do happen and she was asking for help not a rights act on how she was such a$$ for letting them breed. Well any way another member joined and gone in just a few minutes. JMO |
