Wanted a Belgian female Yorkie
 
I recently saw two rather large Yorkies that were a bright silver and gold color and I guess around 10+ pounds in weight. I saw them in Mt.Dora,Florida and the owner called them Belgian Yorkies. This gentleman has since passed away and I did not know his name. After a thorough search of the web, I have not been able to locate
anyone who has this variety of Yorkshire Terriers.

I would be most grateful if someone could provide me with any information that would direct me to a source or to an owner that could direct me foward.

Are you sure it was Belguim? I know aa lot of the lovely Brazilian yorkies come out of Florida. Good luck in your search.

Hi Sugar's Mom,

My wife actually spoke to the gentleman and that was what
he told her. I now wish I had talked with him but that was not meant to be. I will google your clue "Brazilian Yorkies" and maybe a path will open.

i am not sure but I think the "Lake Buena Vista "line is Brazilian.

I've heard of the Brazilian's but never Belgium. Doesn't mean they don't exist. I'd do a google search on both of them.

Did this person mean the dogs came from Belgium or that is what they called that perticular type of yorkie?

Several well known Yorkie Breeders in Belgium.

We have searched and searched and are concluding that he must have visited Belgium and brought them back to the USA.

They were so strong and healthy looking and were such an exception to most of the smaller Yorkies commonly seen that they were just stunningly beautiful.... not to say that the smaller versions are not ----as beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder.

I am pretty much resigned now to keeping a watchful eye out and maybe we'll see them again, if it's meant to be.

mary says there are several good breeders n Belguim. Why not try to find one and import you one.

Well known breeders do buy dogs from each other. So, you do see American dogs in pedigrees in Europe and visa versa.....Without knowing who the breeder/kennel was, it's kind of like finding a needle in a haystack. However, I don't know if you've been to the YTCA National Show in NY, believe me the dogs are not small, and most are American Bred Dogs...

I did not know that about the Yorkies in New York. I'll start
looking thru the New York breeders.

I don't believe Mary (Mardelin) meant NY breeders per say. She was just referring to the dogs that were shown at the National Specialty that is held in NY in conjunction with the Westminster show.

I've never been to a dog show but thanks to this site I feel I'm learning a lot from some fine folks.
