| MyRuby | 10-23-2007 05:17 AM | I am sorry I didnt resond in a while...I am on and offline throughout the day...but I did send pics out to all those who asked and I sent the pics in an email to the "resizers" so hopefully they will be up for all the world to see in no time!! As far as the weight of her parents....I am not exactly sure. But, I will tell you what I know about her before I got her...I met the mom and at the time she was overweight and in her post-pregnancy body, so she was bigger than normal, but I *think* they said she was 7lbs at her regular weight and I *think* that the dad was 3 or 3.5lbs(I did not see him, he was a relatives dog they used for stud, but I saw a photo (presuming it was him, they were pretty down to earth people, no reason to really make that up!). From their litters of the past they always ended up with a small few in that extra tiny size range, but they said my puppy was the smallest in all 10 of their years of breeding. She was literally like a tennis ball with a head when I brought her home, weighing just .6lbs at her 8.5 week visit!! They only let her go that young because they had to bottle feed her and her 2 other siblings were 3 times her size, so the breeders were scared for her safety as she was so defenseless. When my vets first met her they were all amazed and perplexed at how small she was, they said it was like handling a pup that was literally just born- or a baby kitten! She has come a long way and even though she is so much bigger now, still such a little peanut. She isn't all that tough, she roughhouses with my great dane, but she is just lucky my dane is a butterball and one of the worlds most gentle creatures, she jumps all over her face (actually, she and my other yorkie, who is a true mighty dog weighing in a at 3.7lbs both jump all over the dane while she is laying down and it looks like popcorn popping on her). I compare her to Ruby (the bigger one) and Ruby is the leader, and gracie just goes along, but when Gracie is all by herself, she doesnt have the confidence (she needs her wingman!). I think given her love for playing with other dogs, she should have a playmate in her next home. her mom was more the black and tan and dad was blue/gold, the mom was a pretty stocky build- not the cutest yorkie, but I am not a breeder, so maybe she was good breeding material (?). They were hobby breeders, not real intense about it, laid back people with a few dogs. Sorry this is long, just giving more info to the inquiring minds :o) |
