Wanted: F Yorkie in NC, SC, VA or TN area I've been in what seems to be the longest search for a female yorkie and would like some help or pointers from everyone. Does anyone know any reputable breeders in the NC, SC, VA, TN area who may have a little girl available to a nice, loving home? I just don't want to be scammed, lied to or end up with a sick dog. Is that too much to ask for? I just don't know who to trust anymore and I have been responding to local ads but MOST of these breeders don't have mom & dad on site (???) and can't answer most (if any) of my questions. I have driven many hours, multiple times in the past months to see these little girls... only to drive back home, empty handed and disappointed (a little... actually ALOT pissed because the puppies were nothing like what was described). I've read so many stories of heartbreak here on YT regarding dishonest breeders but it seems like I may be a tiny bit waay to compulsive when it comes to finding just the right puppy. Anyways, any pointers would be great. Thanks!!!! |
I hope you find your baby soon, and I think it's wonderful that you're taking your time!! I know it's hard, but you're doing the right thing. I don't know of any breeders in that area, but if I hear of someone, I'll let you know!! No, you're not being compulsive, you're being smart! Many of us have ended up with sick puppies. My yorkie has a liver shunt that is not repairable and he has to be on a special diet, medications, and supplements for the rest of his life. We have to monitor him very closely, or at least we do because we're always watching for signs...Sometimes he has seizures, and he passes bladder stones all the time. I bought from a breeder who claimed to have the parents on site and later I found out that she wasn't a breeder. She was actually a broker for puppymills! I was suckered into it. I cannot imagine my life without Miko though. He is the love of our lives, and like a child to my husband and me. So, make sure you ask for a bile acid test to check for liver shunt before you buy the pup or within the time frame that you have to take the pup to the vet. Good luck on your search for a pup!! |
Oh, I understand ...completely....early on I decided that I was going to educate myself first, talk to whoever would listen, and attend shows that I could drive too. After you try that for a while...you may meet some very nice people in your area....that can lead you to a nice Yorkie... I know of several in TN that are honest, reputable people. You can probably expect to buy a Yorkie that is neutered or spayed . They are very interested in maintaining quality Yorkies. I wish you the best of luck and keep your chin up......I have been looking for 2 years....:):) |

You are doing absolutely the right thing. You can never be to careful. Dog shows are a wonderful place to meet and talk to reputable breeders and learn tons of information. You can go to jack onofrio dog shows or infodog show calender to find shows in your area. Also ytca.org has breeders listed. Good luck in your search. Hope you find a nice, healthy puppy to love. |
