Do TEACUPS exist? Hi !!! It is my mission to hunt down a gorgeous Yorkie! (but the catch is that I am from Australia) I've heard stories of teacup and Toy sizes but some people say there is no actual size called a "teacup". Is that true? Or can you actually get them that small? I'm after the smallest size possible - what would that be? Any recommendations for a great breeder in Australia? Thanks :) xx Lee. |
Well you are correct there is no such term as a teacup yorkie. I am sorry, I can not help find a breeder in Australia. As small as possible, like how tiny are you wanting him or her to be? |
There is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie. That's just a term that people have picked up. My friend's last litter, one turned out to be 3.2 lbs full grown. The smaller they are the more health problems you can run into. Right now, I have a puppy that will probably be no more than 3 lbs full grown, and that's why I have considered keeping her and getting her spayed. |
Tea cup , micro etc are just terms used by irresponsible breeder . Usually from what I have heard , the smallest possible = the biggest vet bills possible . |
Thank you for your reply :) I'm after a small size pup because I don't have much "running around" space at home. If that's your pup in the photo... it's gorgeous :) Is yours small? What kind of health risks are small yorkies predisposed to? |
here is a thread that you should read. It will answer alot of things. I just thought that I would beat everyone to it and post it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=teacups |
lol........teacups are rather fancy for my taste, i prefer a coffee mug..... but yes they exist, they usually come with pretty little saucers just in case there is a spill..... |
There are smaller sized yorkies. Some are born smaller than their litter mates. Sometimes they are breed to be smaller. There are health problems they can have like liver shunt or luxating pattellas but so can average sized yorkies. You just have to understand that you are taking on a higher risk of possible health problems with smaller yorkies. Alot of people on here have smaller yorkies with no health problems so far though. |
