ok ill jump in lol hi :D it would be alot better for the puppies if they stayed with there mother til 10 week or older 7 weeks is way to young & i hope your going (you prob are :D )to inform the new owners that hes going to be pretty big (not huge lol) over 10 pounds oh and i would love to see pics good luck im sure he'll find a home super fast :D |
Seven weeks is too young to be going to their forever homes. You seem to know that because you are going to keep the smaller one longer but it is too young for the bigger pup also |
I agree...please reconsider. This pup is too young. |

I understand this may be your experience but it is not the normal. I released a puppy at 9 weeks who weighed 2 1/2 lbs at 8 weeks.....who at one year weighs 4 lbs...........I estimated the puppy at 7 lbs. They were not typical either. You can not generalize people or animals. It just doesnt work. |
im not just going by experience i also went by the weight chart if you go by this it will be over standard also the mother 9 pounds which also says it could be over standard http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...52&postcount=3 jmo |

Pictures from the poster. |
OK, well I KNOW they aren't supposed to go home until 8-12 weeks, but the mother is no longer having anything to do with them. And they have been well socialized since birth. And as far as letting them know what size they are going to be, I do not make a definate assumption. I do let them know that he is bigger, but that does not mean that he will be a "big" dog. That is the risk that they take when they buy any dog. My female was a little over 1lb when i got her at 12wks and she is now 9 lbs or more. I also can not post pictures because I don't have a digital camera and only sell to local buyers so they can see them before making a purchase. If anyone is interested, please give me a call or an email. Thanks |
The stress of weaning, being fed puppy food instead of mothers milk, vaccinations-are any done?, all add to stress in the puppy, Add a new home, new routine, being away from familiar, adds more stress and this is where puppies become sick leading to high vet bills and in extreme cases, death. At 7 weeks, you really don't know how well puppies will assimilate and digest food, you are going to have to do the clean up after them as mom doesn't anymore. Please keep these babies until 12 weeks. You might check with your state laws as it could be against the law in your state to sell this young. For the sake of your puppies and any new prospective owner, please don't sell at 7 weeks. |
Whatever... you don't have to worry because I won't sell on this website anymore. I am tired of being attacked because I posted an ad. I know they are young and I know the proper steps in raising puppies, I have sold them many times before at this age, but usually around 8 wks. I discuss with any buyer what needs to be done (vaccinations and wormer) and any other details because they are still young. I have not had any other problems with my pups leaving at this age and if I did I would be for sure that they are kept for a longer period of time. |
Please don't take offense and leave the board. This is just something you have to get used to. overlook it. but, they are right about the pups being too young. Altho, they sell them here in kentucky at six weeks. i just shake my head in amazement everytime I see an ad in the paper. |
No please dont leave I didnt mean any offense with my post. I just hoped you would reonsider selling the bigger pup so young. I feel strongly about them not going so young because I got one at that age and he got sick on me. |
michpock.. so you also understand that the runt of the littler may OR may not always be the smallest at the end?? and why would you sell a runt for a higher price?! that is outrageous! the runt, again, usually BUT not alway has more health problems than the other dogs in it's litter... don't do that to your dogs. you should be breeding to make our beautiful breed better. Sorry if this offends anyone.. but I had personal experience with .. nevermind.. I don't have to explain myself |
