Looking for a tiny AKC male with full registration in NY
 
Hi,

We are looking for an older boy to add to our house. We would like as tiny as we can get at age 10 months and older, but must be healthy and have a clean bill of health. Unaltered. We are looking for Layla's opposite. We are looking for a quiet, cuddley, lazy little thing. Short topline a plus, with short legs and nose. Please PM me or post with any available yorkies that meet these criteria so we can discuss some other things that need discussing ;-)

If you want it unaltered, then I assume you want it for breeding. A tiny one healthy at 10 months doesn't guarantee it will continue to be healthy. Anything under 4 or 4 1/2 lbs is at increased risk. I have seen tiny ones that seem healthy die of kidney failure at two years of age. Not all conditions are detecatable.
I am not saying a tiny one is sure to have problems but they are at an increased risk.

Well, I did say tiny, not the other "t-word", so yeah, I realize this. I do know that there are things to look out for and I fully intend to do whatever I can to insure that I get a healthy pup. 10 months is the youngest I am looking at and would actually prefer older. That said, there is no guarantee anyway, tiny or tubby...health isn't something that can be gauged on size all the time, I don't think. Sure the small ones have more of a probability, but I am not saying I want a scrawny sickly baby just as long as it is tiny... I am tiny...well, wait, that is probably a bad example lol! Seriously, there are red flags to look out for when you are looking at small ones of any age and I fully intend to do my homework, so no worries. Thank you for your concern though;)

You don't understand. Scrawny sickly is not usually what a tiny will look like. Tiny is one that is plain old small but often will be small due to health problems that may not show up for a while. As long as you are informed of what you are getting into. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is an excellent source of information about Yorkies. YOu can find them at www.ytca.org If you click onto their frequently asked questions page, you will find info on Yorkies including undersized.

Ok, well I am not going to argue with you. I am not looking for a freakishly tiny dog here. Yorkies are tiny! I want as small as I can get without the risk of the freakishly tiny ones. Yes, I know what I am getting into and yes I am a responsible pet owner. I want older so it is full grown and I am don't end up with a 12 pounder when that is not what I want. Geesh!

Layla in all due respect using a smaller stud doesnt guarantee SMALL PUPPIES! One may use a 3lb stud that can produce 10lb pups or you can use a 6lb stud that may produce 3lb pups...the key is knowing the male pedigree.

Oh dear god...where did I EVEN SAY I Was breeding! I said I wanted unaltered...ever think I might have other reasons for that?? I wish I could delete this post and take the word tiny out of it..I didn't realize that people would jump to conclusions...I suppose I should have based on past posts...

I apologize, I must be having a touchy day. I seriously took those posts as lecturing...what with the references to downsizing and links to info on it...If I am wrong, I really do apologize. I am just looking for a healthy little boy.

It's obvious you want a healthy pup no matter what, so I don't think anyone would lecture you :D You sound like you know what you want, and that's the first step, which is great. Good luck on your search!

Layla one would only assume you want him for stud because of your specifications "short topline, short legs and nose" and "unaltered"...if not why would it matter if he were intact or neutered? just curious why you would want a 10 month old or older "leg liftin peeing machine" as a pet?

Well, in personal experience I have had more luck training unaltered males. Then later having them altered. They seemed to retain better for me and there was just a difference then when I tried with altered. Maybe it is just a fluke, but that is my reason. As for the build of the dog...that is how I like them to be built, looks wise. That's all...
