Read This before you purchase a Yorkie Read this before buying a yorkie, It could save you alot of heartache http://www.jacksangels.org/TeaCup.html http://www.jacksangels.org/TeaCupTruth.html http://www.jacksangels.org/TeaCupMyth.html |
fortunatly i was a member of this site BEFORE i was looking for a yorkie.... i was advised early on to steer clear of certain puppies..... actually, i WANTED an oversized one because it would fit my lifestyle better... im lucky, i got exactly what i wanted.... no pocket accesories for me thanks |
What a great site. That baby Ashlee is adorable :( RIP |
Very Good Point!! Often when people see me with Bailey,,,they say " oh Hes so cute BUT I want a Teacup Yorkie" I ALWAYS correct them, that there is NO such thing, and How the small ones and runts are bred to get these tiny dogs, and the Health problems that come with them! Some still dont believe me, because they see it advertised,, as such! anyhow,,, good articles  |
That was an interesting site and I also think that everyone should fully research what they are getting into before buying a yorkie or any small breed...anytime we see someone at the store and they ask if our girls are teacups, we always try to stop and explain that there is no such thing...it is amazing how many people just are not informed on the truth!! |
i hope future owners have a look at that site |
I think those are excellent threads. I think little yorkies are cute as heck and if its one that is healthy thats great! I couldnt blame someone for wanting one, I would want one too...I wouldnt breed intentionally for one though. Those threads are informative......and unfortunately speak the truth about alot of health issues that can happen. Its a great addition to a wealth of knowledge! |
i want a small dog but not that small i wanna 7pds around there theres no reason to have a dog that small dont you want it to be able to play and run when there that small it cant do anything cause it might break a leg just running there no life for ones that small they just get carried around when i was looking for a yorkie before brownie i was i want a teacup i was 15 the day i went to look at puppies i wanted to bring one home that day i fell inlove with this tiny little girl so was really small but she was 1400 and my father only brought 800 with him he told me we would come back but then i saw brownie the only yorkie in a cage with 4 malteses he was upside down sleeping and i took him home i think of it this way there was a reason we didnt have enough money at the time we had a 1 year old in the house now shes 4 and there best friends and i dont have to worry about her hurting him cause hes just her size whos know what could have happened if i would have gotten that tiny one sorry for the history lol |
The history is great........just another thought to consider when wanting a little wee yorkie...... But I do think its okay if after being educated about them you would still want one. Some people do have a life that would cater to puppy like that. |
also i think if one is born then thats ok but to breed them that small and to just give them to anyone that wants one is wrong |
Yep sometimes those little ones just happen. If they are healthy, how wonderful! If they arent, its a very sad thing......one situation no one should have to experience. |
As a future owner, I am well versed in the steer clear of the \'teacup\' Yorkie thing... I would actually perfer a larger grown up Yorkie than a tiny... |
Good post  |
This is a great post but definitely a hard read! It certainly is cruel!!! Before I got Bentley and didn\'t know diddly squat about yorkies, I had only seen in person two tiny yorkies that a friend of mine had. I wanted one ever since because hers were so small and cute. I have to admit that when I bought Bentley I thought he would end up that small. I am SOOOOOO thankful now that I have learned about the breed that he has ended up being much bigger!!! And also his size makes him a great play buddy for my nine year old son! I would not now, knowing what I know, ever purposly buy another yorkie that would be smaller than Bitsy and she is six pounds and probably looks like a giant compared to some of the yorkies on here, but to me she is so little and delicate!!! We are extra careful with her even at six pounds and I cannot imagine having one smaller. I have a runt in her litter that I am worried will not be her size full grown. I have no idea how big Bitsy or Bentely\'s parents are. I do know that the difference in the size of the six pups of the litter they had are a huge range! I hope people who are considering breeding a yorkie for ANY reason will read this thread! I personally know that I will never breed again and if I read it I will get depressed. It\'s a tradgedy if you ask me but I hope potential unknowing breeders will read it :( |
Excellent site!!! Thanks for sharing it with us. It\'s so sad at the outcome of some of those puppies!! I just hope that everyone that wants a yorkie or any other small breed dog does the research first, so that they don\'t get home their new baby and have a tragic outcome!! |
