Looking for Yorkies around ST Louis, MO Hi There. I live around STL and i was looking for a Female Yorkie under $800 to possibly breed to my 5 year old - 10 LB stud. Loving home no small children, fairly active lifestyle, country home:D :D |
I'm not sure if you know this or not, but your female has to be bigger than your male in order to breed her. So in other words, you will be looking for a BIG female, since your male is over 10 lbs. Most, but not all, are looking for the smaller or standard yorkie. But some people do have a love for the bigger ones. ( my male is 11lbs) But I'm using him to breed. Just something I thought I'd share... |
Were going to have babies sometime next year maybe around april we live in illinois but im not sure you want to wait that long we have a bigger female but im not so sure shes that big |
Your male is to big to breed. There is no good reason to breed out of the standard. |

Omg.. I just reread what I wrote..... My male who is 11 lbs is not being used for breeding.... I cant believe I didnt type NOT using him for breeding. He has his appt to get neutured Sept 5th. But I seriously think it is horrible to try and breed the bigger dogs. The standard of a yorkie is between 5-7 lbs. My female should weigh around 5 - 5.5 lbs... And one of my friends is gonna stud out her 4 lb male. |
I have to agree with everyone else here. It will be hard for you to find a female that will be over 10 lbs. Then you will be breeding outside of the standard. I lived in Illinois and I'm moving back there. Unfortunately it will also be harder for you to find homes for yorkies that big. I have seen yorkies only sell for around $400 max because one of the parents were 8lbs, which was over the standard. Then it took a while to sell them. Usually when people are looking for yorkies they look for the ones with parents within the standards in case you didn't know. Anyways Welcome to yorkietalk! I hope you are able to find a yorkie. I do know of a couple breeders in the IL area. |
