Oh and Babyblessing, I do get pennysaver I will get to calling around, thanks for the heads up. |
Here are some more adoptions (you need to scroll down about 1/2 a page to get to the so cal adoptions.). http://www.yorkierescue.com/need.html |
I never let the yorkies go before 8wks. I know people let them go as early as 6 and some insist on 12 or more. I got both of my yorkies at 8 weeks and especially enjoyed the time with them. I know some people keep the yorkies longer to make sure of coloring/size before selling. We actually wouldn't be down there before they were 9-10 wks old, maybe a little older. I like my puppies to be between 4-8lbs. Last litter had a small male that we actually insisted on keeping till he was older. One reason I think it's good to keep them is new yorkie owners are not as aware of small breed dog problems. Hypoglycemia is something that can be brought on just from over playing with a young pup and of course they don't take falls as well as say a lab pup! As cute as the smaller ones are I've heard time and again of health problems with smaller ones. We also have children and our yorkies are our pets!!! They like to play fetch and go for walks. I think it all depends on what your looking for! No matter who/where you get your pup from it's good to know what your getting into! I used this site when I first looked into buying my female (my first yorkie!!!/ MY baby), I know the people here helped me a lot to know what to look for and what to ask so it's great that you found this site. I haven't been on in probably 3 years or so, but it seems there are still some of the same people around! |

Smileyanni, that's good to know. I have been researching so much since I want to be as prepared as possible and YT has a lot of info. Thanks to everyone for the help so far :thumbs up :yorkietal |
Don't buy from a pet store in Redlands. PM me if you need more specifics or email me at scrapindee@aol.com. |
discouraged before I call off my search of 2 years are there any other options I could consider.I actually wanted to adopt a rescue but each dog I see is very sick or requires another dog in the home and I only wanted a single pet. I am confused since every dog I think might be a match is 1500-3000 dollars and I am confused since so many of the people here at YT have gotten good quality pets for less than that. :( |

The ytca information for breeders is not super current I called for the ones in area and several werent breeding anymore or just cost too much. Does anyone know of any good reasonably priced breeders throughout So. Cal? I don't want to adopt out of state.I am willing to go a tad over $1000 but not by much I just want a pet. I think I am going about searching wrong, but I don't know |
I have been reading your thread now for a few weeks. I have even PM you, letting you know about my 2 females that I have up for adoption. I guess my price is too high. I will post a For Sale Add soon. In Calif it is reality, for a pure bred, good quality,Vet cared, small Yorkie the price is 1000. - 1800. Depending on the line, quality of the dog and Vet care. There are yorkies out there for 500 - 800, yet you are taking a chance that they are from Puppy Mills in Mexico. Now in other states there are Yorkies at a considerably lower price. But the Vet care is also lower too. Breeders as myself here in Calif. Pay a higher price at their Vets. Example, last Monday it cost me $195.00 for my 3 puppies 1st set of shots and complete exam. Plus that is the cost again in 3 weeks. My Dam's emergency C-Section was $750.00 + more for re-stitching her 2 more times. We breeders try to recoup our expenses also in the price of the puppies. Now there are Yorkie Rescue places through out our State and other states that you can go and get a pet quality Yorkie for a few hundred. Good luck |
I have 2 females and one male for sale. PM me if you're interested. I live in the high desert. Between to San Bernardino and Barstow. Suz |

I may have one for you.... We have a 1 year old female Yorkie. Since my husband and I work and the kids are in school and sports, there just isn't enough time to play with the dog. She weighs about 5 lbs and is very smart and affectionate. We don't have papers for her - it wasn't important to us. We aren't looking to recover what we paid her but would consider selling her for $600 to a good home. Let me know if you're interested =) |
