Looking for a female teacup in Arizona Hi! I'm new here. I have turned to this site to hopefully get some help finding a legitimate puppy. I have had a terrible time trying to find a female teacup. There is only 1 yorkie breeder in my area that I can find and she only has males right now. I have been looking in other states, but it seems like every reply I get:confused: is "I had to move to Africa, send the money through Western Union", yeah right. I have been looking online for hours everyday, but i'm getting exhausted. It seems like all I can find are scams or puppies that are severely over priced. Can anyone help? Thank you. |
Well you limit your search when you just look for teacups. Small yorkies are almost always priced higher and alot of times it is way higher. Females are also always priced higher than males. Why dont you just look for a female yorkie you might have better luck. |
Beware of those scammers who claim to be in "Africa"!!! They have scammed so many people! You are smart to pick up on the fact that it was a scam  First of all, be very aware of breeders who advertise their puppies as "teacup." Technically there is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie. Breeder who advertise their pups as such are pricing their pups WAY high simply bc they advertise as "teacup." I would recommend looking in newspaper classifieds in newspapers from cities around you. Go visit several breeders and only get a puppy from a breeder you feel comfortable with. You need to look at the conditions in which the puppy was raised and look at BOTH parents. Looking at the parents will give you a good indication of what the puppy will look like full grown. There are also several breeders here on YT. Do a search for breeders in TX. I know for sure there are a lot of good ones in TX. GOOD LUCK getting a puppy! Yorkies are the best. :D |
Thank you Thank you both for all of your advice. I will do a more broad search. I had no idea that teacup Yorkies didn't actually exist! |

Welcome to YT! Lucky you will have one of our favorite members here for a neighbor soon. livingdustmops (Cindy) is moving to Phoenix soon and she works with rescue yorkies and may be able to help you with info. Use the search to read threads on 'teacup' ....reputable breeders do not advertise with that term, or even try to produce tinies since health is their first concern. www.ytca.org has a breeder listing....and a code of ethics and breeders.net(by zipcode) usually has less scam listings than many of the other places on the net. Best of luck in your search! |
Welcome to YT. Good luck in your search for the perfect puppy! |
Welcome and good luck!:) :) :) |
Hello, If you are searching for a yorkie you came to the right place! When I first got Max I didn't know how to take care of him and everyone on here helped me soo much! I will be moving to Queen Creek Arizona at the end of August and before I do I will be getting a female yorkie! Where exactly are you looking to buy from what are you looking for in the dog show breed or pet and how far would you be willing to travel to get her are just some of the things that you tell the people and they will help you out tremendously!!! |
Thanks Again Thank you to everyone who replied. I am feeling a little more optomistic about finding the perfect puppy now. Just to add a little more info...I am willing to travel just about anywhere to pick her up. My husband works for US Airways so we can fly anywhere for free. If anyone knows of a good breeder anywhere please let me know. |
What exactly is the price range that you are looking for? |
Well...you'll probably think i'm crazy, but I originally didn't want to spend more than $600-$700. From what I have found though, it looks like I will need to spend a little more for a quality puppy. What do you think is a reasonable price? |

It all depends on where you buy. There was a thread going about "how much did you pay for your yorkie." As you can see by reading that there is a wide range in what people have paid. But it also depends on what you are looking for and where you get your pup from. Good luck! |
And the smaller ones do cost more. |
Looking for a teacup I bought mine off of yahoo classifieds, also a good place to check is hoobly.com. Most breeders don't like the term teacup so you might also search for Tiny Yorkie. The parents of my little girl were 2.5 - 3 pounds and that's pretty darn tiny, so even though her ad didn't say teacup I felt safe purchasing her. I would look more at the parents size than trying to find a "runt" that might be unhealthy. If I were you, I'd look in the 4 pounds or under range. Some suggestions are to look at the price, a $300-$500 range online for a teacup is most likely a sign that it's not legit. It'll be much more closer to the $1,000+ range. When I bought Lola the ad actually said she'd prefer not to ship but would consider it. I found a site that was reputable for shipping and e-mailed her the info. I think it's a partnership when buying a puppy. When you contact someone they should give you lots of information about the puppy and even their phone number. Good luck in your search! |
there is also lots of references on the "Breeder" thread.... check there! oh, BTW, WELCOME! Donna |
You may want to get on the waiting list for Kimberly's (www.yorkiepassion.com) China litter due soon. and please don't buy from anyone unethical enough to breed 2.5 and 3 lb dogs. |
:aimeeyork Me and my wife are looking to sell our little princess. We do not have the time to watch over her like we should and it is not fair. She is a tiny Yorkie, she weighs in at about 3.5 pounds. She is full grown, 1.5 years old. She has papers, but we never took the time to send in the registration, but you can do so if you wish. She is fixed though, I don't know if that is a concern. Let me know, we are willing to work with the price. |

I second both of these statements. Kimberly is awesome and her babies are beautiful! Look around here on YT and you'll see her being thanked by many people who she's helped out along the way. :) |
Welcome to YT and good luck on getting you a lil female. I personally would check out the 1.5 year old !! :wavey: |
Hi and welcome to YT! You've definitely come to the right place in your search for a Yorkie. There is so much information and TONS of advice from some really great people here - and the best part about them - they won't steer you wrong:) I just want to give you my story regarding female vs male since your searching for a female. Up until April of last year, I had always been owned by a female yorkie - never wanted a male, didn't even want to consider it! Boy was I selling myself short and really denying myself, and my family, of the joys of having a male! We had the wonderful fortune to know the "wrong" guy - he should NEVER own animals IMO! He had gotten a male yorkie for his son (who was 10 at the time) - his son was to be responsible for the "dog". I told him if he couldn't keep him, call me - I wanted him. Well, I got the call, went and got him but was a little leary because - yep, he wasn't a female! I had convinced myself I didn't want a male because of their hiking their leg to "mark" their territory and I didn't want sofa, chairs, etc ruined because of it. Having owned a yorkie (or rather owned by one) for 18 years, I thought I knew everything about the breed - WRONG!! I focused all my research on females! I thought, even after having them neutered, they'd still hike but most of them don't. Gage was neutered and since then, he's only hiked his leg a handful of times but they've all been outside, not in my house. He has turned into quite the squatter when he pee pees :D and all is well in my house :) The point I'm trying to make is this - don't pass up an opportunity to have (and give) unconditional love on a yorkie just because he's male and not female. Gage is the lap dog, kisses giver, and unconditional lover I've always wanted and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Don't get me wrong, I love my Gabby just as much but each time I look at Gage, I see in him what I've missed for so long by passing on the males of the breed. Best of luck to you in your search. Keep us posted on how it turns out for you Suzi |
This is an EXCELLENT post!!!! I,too, have always had female dogs, but when I got married and wanted a yorkie oh so badly, hubby said that I could have one only if I got a male. Well, I was SO apprehensive because, like the previous poster said, I did not want him hiking his leg all over my house. Well, I got Hobbs neutered when he was 5.5 months old and he has never even thought about lifting his leg to pee...he is a squatter and always has been. AND the best thing is that he is the most affectionate and sweetest little guy I've ever met. I have a male and a female now and my male is DEFINATELY the lover out of the two. Good luck in your search. Don't pass up an opportunity to get a male. They are WONDERFUL! :D :D :D Quote:
