i have an 11 lb. male yorkie. i know that very big but his parents were both 5-7 lbs and he just got a grandfather genei guess. i am wanting to find a female yorkie to eventually breed him with but i don't want one to small for birthing complications would be at a higher risk. If you have any suggestions or no of any puppies that will be bigger please let me know.

i know a lady who had a 12 lbs female and she sold her whole kennel to someone in alabama. she was in bad health and couldn't care for the yorkies she had. Pm me for her phone # and she can give you name of the person who bought her out. maybe they will sell the 12 lbs. you can try.

I have 2 females left available in my litter. One pup is going to be aprox. 6-7lbs. and the other is gonna be between 31/2 and 4lbs. They are ACA registered. I will try to post their pictures.

These are their 6wk pictures their ears are up now and they are doing great. I will try to get more recent pictures for you if you're interested. Just let me know.

Promise I'm not trying to be rude her AT ALL...but why not neuter your 11 lb male and if you really want to breed, purchase a nice female that is within the standard (size and otherwise) and breed HER to another nice male who is also within standard? (And make sure you've researched closely what is behind them) If we keep throwing in oversized genes (or undersized for that matter!) we're not doing anything good for this breed as a whole. Do lots of research before you undertake breeding, it's not as "easy" as it seems. :) I wish you luck finding the perfect little girl.

thanks for all of your opinions and your advice. i have found a lil girl who i have done some research on and the people and the dogs are both very nice. i do understand the whole throwback gene but what i dont understand is how someone can say dont breed over 7 lbs but then you see people who try to breed as small as poss. they call them tea cups and tinies but i didnt think there was such a thing. the thing is though you pay twice as much for the lil ones who may or may not be healthy but then you have the bigger yorkies who are healthy and people dont want them because of there size i would rather my dogs be healthy and happy no matter how much they weigh or how big they are

Best of luck but I would not breed an 11 pound dog even if I had a 12 lb bitch.

My two cents: purposely breeding outside of the standard, whether it be for tinies or for larger Yorkies, is irresponsible breeding in my opinion. And just because a dog weighs more does not necessarily make it healthier.

Not trying to judge or insult, this is just what I think.

I'm sorry to hear you say this. Those who breed tiny on purpose are JUST as wrong as those who breed oversized on purpose. The point of breeding is to preserve our standard and try to meet it with every puppy you bring into this world. It isnt' a "throwback" gene when the parent is so much larger, it's just a GENE..right there! Not to mention other discrepencies he may have in the standard. You put your smaller female at risk to breed her to a male so much larger, and really all you are doing is a major dis-service to this breed, and a slap in the face to those who work so hard to preserve our standard. If there weren't a standard, a Yorkie wouldn't look like a Yorkie, and with every deviation from that standard, you are saying "I don't care about this breed", and putting another dog into this world who doesn't look like it's supposed to, for what? A few dollars? To give puppies to friends or family? Do them a favor, and give them the NICEST puppy you can, and that isn't going to happen out of an 11 lb male. Just because they have the "parts" to make puppies doesn't make them a good choice in breeding. Please consider that. I fear with all of this indiscriminate breeding in Yorkies, they will soon become the new "Cocker Spaniel" who got so overbred the temperaments and health went all to hell in a hand basket, not to mention the look of the dog, barely unreccognizable as what breed it was supposed to be, and now look where they are...in every animal shelter in every town in the US...and "purebred", just because they had the parts to make puppies, and someone thought it would be fun to have a litter or make a few dollars..thanks Walt Disney for "Lady and The Tramp"..the breed is still paying for that movie! Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. :)

I don't want to make anyone upset, but I have to say that breeding an 11 lb male to ANY female is totally irresponsible. You need to read the AKC standard. This standard is what you are supposed to be trying to achieve. No matter how big your bitch is, you are putting her at risk. Just because the dog is large does not mean it will be healthy or throw healthy pups. Something was wrong in the genes somewhere for him to be 11 lbs. A friend of mine had a 12 lb one who she just had to have put to sleep at 5 years old for liver shunt (which she did not know he had until it was to late). The 11 lb male should be fixed. You can always buy AKC standard dogs if you want to breed to better the breed. I also have to say that I was totally surprised at the person that offered a pup that would be 7 lbs and a 3 1/2 pound to the lady with the 11 lb male. I am really shocked by this entire post.
