Help....I have to ask for aid from established Yorkie breeders/ champion show
 

Ok....so I had a lengthy posting started about my desire to find a puppy bitch.....to show.....it was about 4 inches long....but, I could not stress in words what my heart felt....I have been told by other YT members to address this forum.

A few have talked to me.....and know my story. I am looking for
a puppy bitch to get back into the ring with. I have experience with showing and working with handlers finishing a bitch to champion status, just not Yorkies....

I can only move forward if I can ask for help from the exp show breeders on this site.

Please, I know that I need to be patient....and I have been...for almost a year.....I just need help....

I need all of your help......please. If you want to know more about my intentions....feel free to ask.....I am a very honest and ethical person.....I am laying it all out .......please.

I think you will find Yorkies hard to break into but not impossible.
First of all, if you are new in Yorkies, it doesn't matter what you were showing or handling before. If you want to get into showing Yorkies, most reputable show breeders do not sell a show dog less than at minimum 6 months 9 months or older is better. The Yorkie is a bit of a tricky breed for show purposes as one can start out looking great but something goes off later and especially once you are into the 9 month range you will have a better idea if colour may hold or not and go too light. Size can go off on you staying either too small or going too large. Toplines can start out good, go off and then come back hopefully.
Yorkie litters are usually small. For show breeders that have really nice dogs, the demand for their puppies especially females can be pretty high that there isn't much available for someone new providing the breeder has any females available for show homes in the first place. A showbreeder might be more willing to try you out with a showable male, under coownership and see what you do.
In the meantime, if you can, go to any dog shows in your area, hopefully, you will find someone to trust you and be willing to mentor you. If you keep showing up often enough and keep asking questions etc you will perhaps gain their trust that you are sincere.
If you just go buy a female on open papers, having it shipped to you or buy from someone who doesn't show their dogs, you will likely be very disappointed in what you get. You want to find a breeder you can work with including the grooming which is extensive. You need grooming equipment that will run into money to just start showing that one Yorkie. This doesn't happen in short coated breeds but certainly does in many of the coated breeds. The skill to grow out that coat, products to protect the coat between shows and products used on the coat for shows, and do the topknot is not an overnight lesson. It takes time and patience and an investment in grooming materials.

Thanks for the insight. The reason I mentioned in my original posting that I have shown and been involved with a handler in the past was to let everyone know that I have the "sticktoitness". This is a process that I am continuing to learn about....every day, every show I go to, every person I talk to...

You are very nice in offering your personal wisdom, and I value that a lot.

I may have high expectations for myself, but that is just me......I will keep trying
