Yorkie Search Advice? (MA or PA area) Hi there, I'm a first-time dog owner/buyer. I grew up with terriers and yorkies and I'm finally looking for one of my own! I feel a little overwhelmed searching for one on the internet. Does anyone have any advice? Trusted websites? I also heard something about waiting lists? I'm open to adopting from a shelter, a puppy from a breeder, etc... It doesn't need to be AKC. I just want a healthy happy dog friend to add to the family. Also, if anyone knows of any trusted breeders or shelters, I would love to hear your suggestions! I live in Massachusetts but I have family in Delaware and Pennsylvania as well. Thank you!! |
My advice would be to go to a local dog show and speak with Yorkie breeders to find out more about the breed, puppy availability, and perhaps references to other reputable breeders you could contact. That's your best bet for a healthy purebred Yorkie. In a litter, not every puppy is show quality, so the other non-show quality puppies are available to purchase. Or, sometimes breeders will allow their retired show dogs for purchase as well. Here is a list of upcoming shows you could possibly attend: https://www.eventbrite.ca/d/ma--boston/dog-show/ Otherwise, yes, please do keep an eye out for puppies for adoption at your local shelter. That obviously would be an amazing think for you to do. |
Be very careful if you look in Pa. Lancaster area is over run with Amish puppy mills. You call also call veterinarians in your area, ask for breeders of yorkies, or rescue shelters. My vet works with a rescue team and has adoptions once a month, she will also take dogs from other rescue sources if they have no space. 3 months ago she took in 13 yorkies from a puppy mill bust, 7 pure bred, 6 were mixed. It's worth a call, ya never know. Good luck. |

Do you know if she would have any yorkies left? Great idea though, I never thought to ask vets. I'll definitely look into it since I'm sure I could ask a few friends for references. |
The last I heard from one of the techs they had a couple they couldn't place due to being very shy. I don't know if they rescued anymore Yorkies, lucky me, I haven't had to bring Cody in for anything lol. I'll PM you. |
Yorkie puppy available in PA - needs a great home! Hello, Are you still looking for a puppy?! We bought my mom a yorkie almost 3 wks ago and she can not physically or mentally take care of the dog (we just learned of this issue). So I recently took the puppy to reduce stress in my moms life and I also have two dogs for the pup to be friendly with. I've only had her a few days but we are looking to sell her to a great family because 2 dogs is a lot 3 is too many for me. She is in good health, I have the bill of health from the vet and she is a great lil pup she's already learned to potty on wee wee pads. We purchased her from a Breeder and have paper for her. Please let me know if you are still interested, I live in PA and don't mind driving for the righty family. I have a yorkie myself and want this lil girl to have a great home like my dog has. (845) 741-3039 -Amanda (the forum won't let me post pics because they are two big you can txt me and I can send you pics and video of Her. PS: yorkie was purchased from a breeders home in Staten Island, NY. We have all vet records and paper for her. |

Not sure if you're still on the look, but I was on Pet Smart's website and was curious where all the donation money they ask for go to. Then, I came across their charities site and found this cutie pie Yorkie up for adoption! He's got everything ready, shots, microchip, etc etc and the organization pays for the shipping too. Bryan Cranston. Too cute! You could have your own little Walter White. :D https://www.petsmartcharities.org/fi...sults/17934292 |
Is this puppy still available? Quote:
