Heartbroken I'm looking for a small adult female. She would be a support animal for me |
Where have you looked? How's the search going? Are you looking for a purebred AKC registered or is a mix ok with you? Need some details if you'd like some help finding one. :) |
Hopefully the search parameters will stick with the link..... sometimes they don't: Yorkshire Terrier Puppies For Sale Near Apple Valley, California - AKC Puppy Finder Do you need an adult or nearly housebroken pup or are you ready for lots of work and frustration of house training a puppy? :) |
Here's another link: https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search...e&distance=100 Also, you can visit local animal shelters or visit their direct websites.... The pups there seem to be less expensive than the rescues.... We have a rescue but did pay quite a bit for him... might seem cold to say but it needs saying occasionally>>>> for a few dollars more or if I had been less impatient, we could have had an AKC registered puppy.... Don't misunderstand that, I/we love Zippy, he's a great dog and I'm really glad we have him.... but a rescue is not always a true rescue and even though I knew that I still bought Zippy from a rescue. Just be aware of it. |
Heartbroken I've looked at shelters, rescues, I've been on line also. I want a small Yorkie, under 4#. No papers and over a year. She's going to be with me 24/7. I'm disabled and don't have a lot of money |
I've looked everywhere rescues, pet finders, on line. I'm looking for a small female adult, 1yr or older.i don't have much money. It will be a support animal. I'm disabled and she will be with me 24/7. |
I am wondering.....and I may be really ignorant here but I am wondering.....wouldnt a larger dog be more beneficial as an assist dog....Yorkies are great for emotional support, but they are awfully small for an assist dog?? I am thinking a dog with more size, say a beagle, or even a poodle or a cocker....... has more size on it and yet they are precious and loving and attentive. I am just not sure how much a tiny little Yorkie under 4 lbs, would be as far as help/assistance.....you certainly do not need one to get tangled up underfoot and cause you to fall..... Those other breeds will be less expensive too....and that includes less maintenance costs..... |
I had a 3# Yorkie for 12 yrs . She recently died of cancer. She was perfect for my needs and went everywhere with me |
I am assuming you mean emotional support? Purchasing a well bred dog is cheaper in the long run. Fewer health issues. I had one Yorkie was was beautiful but not as well bred - this was before being as well educated - when the health hit at about age 5 it was very, very costly. My current Yorkie was a top,of the line breeder pup and is the healthiest dog I have ever had. So I'm prone to thing you pay at one end or the other. I'm also a fane of health contracts, DNA, and bile acid testing. Good luck in your search. I can hear that you are a Yorkie lover. You could look for a YTCA breeder in your area. Often they has pet quality pups they like to find good placement for. |

You can check with these to see where their price point is to see if that is a feasible option. The "i don't have much money" statement doesn't bode well though. BUT, it never hurts to check! Dog Breeders Map List- The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America |
Just checked petfinder for within 100 miles of your zip code... there's 43 to choose from... keep checking that and local shelters... you'll find a pup that melts your heart, start visiting animal shelters... ;) I bet you can't go 6 visits without finding a dog to give a home to. |
https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/35913231 Plenty of others also! Note the contact given at this ad, it's a yorkie rescue, email and ask them about one a bit smaller... |
Thank you. I'm not going to give up |
Apple Valley, CA : Adoptable Animals Check out the papillon! 4 lbs! Apple Valley, CA - Papillon Mix. Meet Liebe #158616 a Dog for Adoption. |
Also, note they discount to rescues so if you desire a yorkie you'll probably need to see if they have a list to get on... with a yorkie rescue not far from you, they might automatically earmark yorkies for them UNLESS you can get in front of the rescue for an adoption. |
