Question about tails So I will be looking to get a Charlie a little buddy in a little while, and I've slowly been researching responsible breeders. Haven't contacted any of yet, but I do have a question. Is it possible to ask a breeder NOT to dock the tail ? I realize that is the standard here in N.America, but not for the rest of the world. My gf has 2 furballs back in Brazil and I really like the idea of keeping the tail. I don't plan on showing the dog, just looking for a pet. I've seen some breeders advertise that they don't dock their tails, but too many red flags (I know how to spot them thanks to YT) thanks ! |

I would think a breeder should leave the tail if you have pre-paid for the dog by that time...but I don't have anything to back that up. |
You would have to contact the breeder before the pups are born. I have a pup with a full tail. Hers was not docked because many in her litter did not make it, so they chose not to dock and stress the puppies out. I love the full tail! |
Tail must be docked within the first three days of life. So, it would have to be something that is discusses prier to the pups being born. Than again its a hard request to honor because you would in a scene have to choose your pup within the first three days of life and that is hard to do. Since most pups are paired with families by the way they interact and act toward the family members plus their mood and activity level. So, unless you can find a breeder that just chooses not to dock the tail for whatever reason it will be a hard thing to find. |
Hmmm, never thought about a Biewer, good suggestion ! But certainly if I would be going for a Yorkie I would have no issue putting a deposit, otherwise I don't think it would be fair to the breeder. Dawn that's also a really good point about their personalities..I know ideally I'd want a really little spitfire LOL Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out :) |
There is a breeder on here from Abbostford. Have you started contacting breeders? My husband was born and raised in Langley, so I know the area well :) A biewer would be a good way to guarantee a full tail! |

Actually no, I'm just starting to research breeders, but I believe you're referring to Loraine ? She's definitely one I'll be contacting :) I found a few others off the YTCA site as well :) |
