Need advice ASAP Is it normal for Yorkies to turn white after the puppy stage. The puppy I'm looking to buy is black and gold now but the Sir is all white and the Dam is beige and black. I'm wondering if this is normal for the price I"m going to pay. |
Other than a BlueBorn yorkie, I dont think that I have ever seen a white yorkie. However there are others here that would know better. I noticed that you are in FtW as well, would you share who the breeder is? Maybe others will be able to help you with better information. |
Yea this isn't right... Turning white after the puppy stage? R they part parti yorkie? Don't worry, more people will reply to this tomorrow. |
A friend of mine who breeds has a yorkie that was not a blue-born and she is white with a faint silver saddle. She has been used for breeding and has had no pups that were not standard. It is not standard nor is it a dominant trait but it can happen. To say it is not normal is not right. Perhaps to say rare, like true green eyes in a human is more appropriate. However, IMO the pup should be priced accordingly. Though it is not a common coat color a puppy sired from a dog that is blonde/white should not be priced any differently than other pups in the area. Though it COULD be a carrier of the gene there is no certainty that it could develop that trait. All I have running through my head now is those Punnet Squares from Biology when I was in High School... |
A blue born and a white are not the same thing. A blue born usually has green eyes as an albino animal or person usually has blue eyes. Pictures would need to be seen to help determine which the pup is. |
