I love that my husband surprised me with a puppy Hi there, my husband surprised me with Alfie 11 weeks ago, he is my Christmas present and a special surprise cos I got him so early. Like you we had both been discussing Getting a dog. Now I wouldn't care if I never got another Christmas present again, I love Alfie entirely and so does my husband, Alfie delights me every day and I think I love my husband more than I did before if that is possible for getting him for me. We don't have any problems here in UK or too many issues with diluting the breed so our breeders do not have the same concerns about selling Christmas pups. Alfie has cost a small fortune in the 11 weeks he has been with us, you can see from my posts that he has recently had a problem with hair loss, I don't care what he looks like, I don't care what it costs to look after him I just want him to be healthy, happy, comfortable and keep on licking me half to death for many, many years. You know your wife better than anyone, I hope you can get her a wonderful wee dog, I am sure she will be as delighted as me. |
Maybe I am nuts but if my hubby did this for me I would be tickled!!!! Maybe I should plan to leave this thread open and pulled up on the big screen.. hint, hint!! haha |
Thank you for the help, I have found a reputable breeder and will have a puppy in late January. |
Congratulations! Keep us posted on the new baby! |
I can not imagine someone else picking out MY dog for me! My Blazer was born into a litter of 6 and I KNEW that he was the one for me. Everyone who knew these pups had their favorite but Blazer was mine. Around the same time that I got Blazer my friend recieved a "gift" pup from her husband. She loves her boy, of course, but she didn't feel like he was "right" for her. She had wanted a Yorkie for a long time and her husband thought that he was doing a great thing by surprising her but when they went to pick him up to bring him home she actually fell for a different pup that was there. It was hard for her, at first, to reconcile herself to the fact that she didn't really get the pup she wanted. I think that the sentiment is great. I love that you have thought of this for your wife, but I think that it will be better for her and for you and for your pup, if she gets a say in what is to be HER dog. |
