are the puppies non registered? I can only see 2 puppies in the pic can you post more? price is a bit high in my opinion if they are not registered.

I THINK I see the other one laying on the right side.....just a question and NOT trying to start anything but, why do you call the smallest puppy "the runt". I was always told the "runt" of the litter was not always the healthiest. Why would you be selling her for more money than the others,,,.a yorkie is a yorkie...regardless of size. some are smaller than others.

I agree, not trying to start anything either, but I see a lot of little red flags here.

just a question...are you the breeder of these pups or are you selling them for someone else?

No Im not, its actually my sister who has them, I promised Id help her sell them (she doesnt do this as a source of income or anything, its her first litter of puppies)


No they arent, my sister said she was trying to sell them at this price and recommended I did the same as a starting point, given I havent owned a dog or this particular breed I'm not in the "know" on how to price them, I called her today and she gave me permission to negotiate on the price some (or if you had a recommendation it would help)

yeah sorry, I actually sat at the keyboard for like 5 minutes trying to think of another word for "runt" just the deep roll of the "r" and the hard "unt" kinda makes it sound like it has a negative connotation to it. I guess just "little-est" or "smallest" would have sufficed, the reason its priced higher is because my sister thinks the smaller ones bring a little more money (she expects this pup to top around 5 lbs based off what she knows about the breed), so far no health issues have made themselves apparent in any of the pups



Again, sorry for any red flags I might have thrown up, like I said I'm helping my sister out, if there is anything else anyone would like me to address regarding the puppies or any other needed info please let me know and Ill get it for you, if you are in my area of the US and would like to have them checked at a veterinarian before purchasing I have no problems with that, and if you are not I am also comfortable with some of the "puppy escrow" services Ive looked at so we both feel comfortable with the transaction

They are too young please don't sell them yet. They should have at minimum first two puppy vaccinations and be vet check before being sold.
Smaller ones run a higher health risk which may take quite a few months to show up.
I believe it is not allowed to sell for someone else on this forum. Your sister would have to join which is free anyway and sell them herself.

:yeahthat:AND those prices are way too high for unregistered pups.

And no ones even touched on the obvious questions about genetic testing, etc.

I guess because we all know none of that's been done.

No way, no how would I pay 1000.00 for a runt that has no heatlh guarantee, no testing of the parents or the puppy and wasnt registered.

They are over 10 weeks old and all vaccinations to this point have been taken care of, also their parents havent had any health issues, the above photos are a bit older so they just look a little young

My sister doesnt have a computer or internet, after re-reading some of the posting rules I see I'm not supposed to sell "for a friend, etc", but I am selling for a family member, if any mods would like to verify or do any checks that I am not scamming and the puppies are readily available I will happily help them help me

also, as I said, I dont know much about this breed, if someone would like to give me a tip on how much to price them (and the ability to edit my post) it would be much appreciated, Im not trying to scam anyone or overprice anything, this is just what I was told they are worth

Yorkie pups should not leave there mom before 12 weeks also the parents can look healthy but still pass on genetic health problems.

ok, I was told 10 by a couple people (and looking at other sellers in this section), are there issues to selling them at 10 weeks? And if there is any testing or anything anyone could recommend I would certainly look into it

again, Im not completely knowledgeable on the do's and dont's of selling a yorkie, if anyone has advice or constructive comments it is much appreciated and allows me to take care of the issue present

Puppies are still learning a lot from there mom until 12 weeks like socialization and about biting. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America says 12 weeks is best. It is to late on the testing that should have been done to the parents before they where mated. Good breeders who do everything they are supposed to do can get $1,000 for pups but there is no way that is gonna happen for unregistered pups who's parents didn't have genetic testing done. Are the parents free of Luxating Patella?

The father has luxating patella, the mother does not, we didn't breed for 'profit' or anything so we did not do gene testing beforehand

If 12 weeks is better than 10 we can certainly hold off for another week before splitting them up (they are almost at 11 now)

again, sorry to offend anyone with the 1000$ price tag, Im just going off what my sister said (she usually thinks things she owns are more than they are really worth, so no surprise there :rolleyes:), if anyone would like to suggest a good asking price I should start at, I would appreciate it (or if there are any other questions that would factor into that, fire away)

Hi Jordan, Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Thank you for being so polite. We don't think you are trying to scam us. We believe there are real, live pups available for sale. The red flags I mentioned were because we strongly suspected these were not your pups, based on your answers to the questions. Most reputable breeders can tell you every little detail about their pups, like it's current pounds and oz. weight and exact birthday. Most won't ship a tiny pup, won't rehome before 12 weeks, and want to speak by phone to all prospective new homes to screen out the bad people from the good. The people you are dealing with here are very knowledgeable about all things Yorkie. Many are professional dog show people, and only breed to further their champion lines, and occasionally sell extra pups that are born non-show quality (like the wrong coat texture). They spend thousands of dollars in genetic testing and hundreds of hours studying their lines to make the best possible genetic matches for their dogs. While I'm sure your sister's dogs are wonderful and healthy, poor breeding practices have caused many genetic illnesses to creep into the breed. Your dog can be a carrier, and be perfectly healthy, but pass on a life ending illness to the puppies. Sadly, we see this happen every day here on Yorkie Talk, so people here are more leery about purchasing a dog who lacks the proper testing and pedigrees. It's so much more than just having a fancy piece of paper to put in a frame. A tested, pedigreed dog does not sell for much more here than what you are asking for your sister's pups. Since buyers here are more savvy, your ad may not generate much interest. An un-championed, un-pedigreed, non-tested dog may only go for a couple hundred dollars here on YT. I'm sure that your sister is basing her prices on ads she has seen in newspapers, but unfortunately, our poor economy has resulted in many people trying to breed their pets to make some extra Christmas or vacation money, all because they heard that cousin Suzy sold her puppies for a huge amount of money. I wish your sister luck in finding new homes for her (very cute) litter. By the way, I could be wrong, but it looks like your sister's female is a bit bigger than 5 pounds too. Others may know better than me. You're welcome to stick around to read and learn more about the breed we are all passionate about. :)

A dog with LP should never be breed it can be passed on to the puppies. LP can be so miserable for some dogs and require surgery to fix which can cost around $2,000 per knee. Whether you are breeding for profit or not genetic testing should be done because you could end up with puppies being born that have a genetic illness that could leave them suffering and in pain or effect them later in life.

the puppies are here...lets help her, help her sister...and PLEASE....have your sister spay and neuter her dogs so this doesn't happen again....LTD88 is right....VERY costly for LP surgery....and now that people know the dad has LP,,,it may be harder to sell them..the prices are high...especially for non registrable dogs...and where their chance of having LP is greater where dad has it your sister may want to come way down on those prices...I hope you can find good homes for all of them

Oh good then sendibg all the pups to a yorkie rescue isnt a financial issue for your sister.

A rescue will evaluate the pups and the potential forever homes.

perhaps that might be a good course to take but in the end it isnt my call

Ive been talking with my sister, she has set up plans with someone to sell 1 next week for 800 and would like to keep the rest for another couple weeks to try and sell them, again her call not mine

in the end I might be back here to see if I can find them good homes for much cheaper than 800 depending on how they sell for her, in any case I want to thank all the posters and commenter's on the help and enlightening me on the species, KiminMD for the great and informative post, the mods for letting me keep the thread open and updating my posts everyday and all the other helpful people on YT, thanks
