Arkansas breeder? I am beginning to look for a Yorkie for my daughter. We are in Arkansas. Does anyone know of a breeder here that is good. Thank you, Sherry |
How old is your daughter? Adult? Child? Toddler? Baby? Why a Yorkie? Start out at YTCA.org and research, and then do some more research. |
My daughter is Sydney. She is twelve. She has always loved animals, and has always been very good with them. She is not rough or mean, and she does not tease them. Sydney had a yorkie mix that was perfect. I could not have written an order for a better friend for her. She slept with Sydney, played with her, dressed up with her :), traveled with her. Little Miss was Sydney's best friend. She died, and Sydney is heartbroken. It has been very difficult for all of us, but more so with Sydney. We are looking to get another dog for Sydney. Many of the qualities that Little Miss had are found in yorkies. I know I cannot get another dog just like her. We decided to get a Yorkie to get those qualites. Or we are at least in the thinking, planning, checking, searching phase of getting another dog. |
There are numerous threads here to help you know what to look for in a breeder. Just like in every state, Arkansas has a few breeders you really need to be careful of. I wish I could recommend one to you. However, both of mine did not come from breeders. Rosie came from my SIL and Mikki I lucked into at a gas station. Maybe someone on here can give you more advice. That is what I want to avoid. I do not want to support a puppy mill. I want to find a puppy that has already been loved as a puppy, not as money. It is proving to be a challenge to find one locally so far. I am sure there are some here. |

I forgot about Petfinders! There are numerous in Oklahoma which is not too far away. In Tulsa I found a few I was interested in. This little girl stole my heart. Thank you for your replies. We did look on petfinder. There are many great adult dogs (cats too) available for adoption, but not very many puppies that met our needs. We have adopted in the past, and will do sp again I am sure. I did check on some that were listed, but they did not work for us. They were too far away, or they could not go to a family with children, or no larger dogs allowed. Locally adopting a pet is much like a game of chance. It is a first come first served basis, and if more than one person wants the same pet they draw names. I found a dog I absolutely fell in love with a couple of years ago at the shelter. He had been found and picked up. I spent the whole time waiting for him to be available hoping my name would be drawn, if anyone else showed up wanting him. I did not get him. Thankfully his family showed up to claim him, and I know he had to have been ecstatic to see them. Sorry, I am rambling again. My mother found her a puppy. She is perfect. She is everything we wanted. In fact my daughter, Sydney, is anxious to introduce her to the group. She will probably start a thread in the nursery section soon. |

I am so glad that you found a new puppy you like. But I am also hoping someone here will see Lexi and Sophie and want to go get them!!! Sophie stole my heart. I wanted her so bad. I hope she finds her furever home soon. |
