Huh? That's new. Quote:

My 8 month old male puppy was neutered at 6 months and doesn't mark....in fact, he squats like a girl puppy. Male dogs are very affectionate and attached to their mommies. Give those male puppies another consideration and i assure you, you won't be disappointed. :) |

Hmmm ... I've put a lot of thought into it, and I think I'm not going to rule out getting a male just yet. I like the idea of a more playful and affectionate - toward - mommy dog (Lindsey wants some lovin' too!). I Googled it and read a page about males vs. females (of course it's a generalization, I know it doesn't apply to all dogs and it is based mainly on their individual personalities) and read it aloud to my husband and he said, "You sure you don't want a male?" Lol! I am just hesitant that he would mark everywhere, and I would be mortified! :doh:Any advice? |
Watch the puppy closely, if s/he lifts leg use a squit bottle, say no in a loud firm voice, and you should be able to stop marking behavior. |
We had Jack neutered around 6 months. I noticed he did start lifting his leg and very soon after that, he was neutered. He is funny - in the house on the pee pads he will squat like a girl and when he goes outside, sometimes he squats and sometimes he lifts his leg. It is very entertaining to watch because I think he misjudges and almost falls over because he lifts it so high. :D Good luck in your search. My next pup will be a Biewer. |
Good luck! I would love to get a Biewer as well. they're so beautiful! I don't care if it's male or female though. Right now I'm looking for a traditional small boy. Well, really... if I see a face and fall in love, the gender doesn't matter! lol My male, Shadow, was stolen right off my sunporch. Someone came through my backyard, which is large by the way. We have a fenced yard and a No trespassing sign. They still took the chance. I have been heart-broken. It's been a few weeks now and we have tried everything. :( |
-gasp- That is terrible! My cousin had that happen to her boxer puppy in the middle of town. I am so sorry that someone took your baby! ... and I, as of Friday, have put a deposit on a puppy, so this board isn't really relevant anymore, lol! A sad and happy note! |

My baby. <3 http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6676/puppycollage.png This is her! I haven't quite decided on a name yet, though I have a few ideas. The breeder is working on getting those ears up! I love her markings, even if they're not traditional.:yorkieg: P.S., sorry I had to post a link; I kept resizing it on ImageShack for forums and everything, and it still told me the file size was too large. |

Puppy talk! Let me send you the link the their website when I figure out how to ... They have some cutie girls still looking for homes, I think one was just reduced to $700. I think that I'm getting this girl at 11 weeks because their carrier is going on vacation and that's as long as she would hold her for me. I know a bit about what happens to a puppy who is separated from momma too soon ... When I was 15 my mom and I went to get a Pom from a local paper, and the breeder gave him to us at 5 weeks! I was too young and stupid to realize how bad it was. I think it made his temperament a little off, but we still love him. Anyways, their carrier fee is $300, which she said is cheaper than buying the crate, getting the vet paperwork, etc. and shipping via cargo. :aimeeyork |
Congrats on your new baby! |
Congrats on the new furkid. :) And yes, some females do mark. My Yorkie girl was spayed later in life. She consistently marks outside (squats to do it) and in places where pups gather like her vet's office. |
