Wanting toy-size Yorkie in Nashville area I would like a pet Yorkie that will be about 8 pounds when grown. Any recommendations where to get one in the Nashville, Tennessee area? |
I only know of a 5 month old female in Georgia. Not sure how much she weighs but probably not over 8 lbs. |
The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America has lists of breeders in every state. I got one from one of these breeders, and she is a wonderful dog. :aimeeyork |
8 lbs is actually bigger than the YTCA standard of not to exceed 7 pounds. finding a breeder that purposefully breeds to a heavier size will put you in a place that you may find many greeders and back yard breeders who do not breed to better the yorkie breed but to make money. those are breeders to AVOID. you might contact some YTCA breeders just in case they had a pup born that grew to be a little bigger than standard and see if they would sell as a pet to you. |
maybe mine is just overweight at 8 pounds. |
I have 2 bigger babies. I love the little extra padding on them. Have you considered looking at a rescue? Often times, they get the bigger babies because people are upset that the dogs didn't stay teeny tiny. |
I have a 16lb, 12lb, 11lb and a 6lb. My 16lb is the sweetest and smartest of all 4. But they are all full of love no matter what size. Good Luck finding your new baby. |
I have a small, male Biewer available...I posted an ad for him in the 'for sale' section this morning. If you are interested please feel free to PM or email me and we can talk. |
I have two Biewer boys that will be around 8-10# when they are fully grown. Please send me a PM or an email if you would be interestede. |

She's from MS and looking for a breeder in the TN area.... |
I would suggest checking out the adult rescues. This will ensure that you find a dog around the size that you want. |
