A Playmate for Charlie? Hi all, Charlie is growing big and strong, he's just hit 5 lbs! At 5 months, he is housebroken, trained to "sit" and "come", and is the light of our lives. We only wonder if he would be even happier with a companion, someone he can run around with and squeak toys with to their heart's content. He absolutely loves to play with our other neighborhood dogs, especially other yorkies, and he seems so sad when playtime is over. He sits in our window looking out at other dogs, and seems to long for someone to play with other than us! He's very well adjusted for being so young, and he does play by himself quite a bit and he is very happy-go-lucky, but we are considering adding a brother or sister for him. We were considering a rescue, possibly another yorkie that's over a year old. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this? Should we wait until he's a bit older? For those of you that have two or more, do you find that your dogs seem happier? Any input that you have would be helpful! Thank you! |
I have a 2 year old female that is so sweet and loves companionship. She is up for adoption for $1,000 and I paid $2400. You would love her, she's healthy and has never had any issues of any kind. she is 4lbs but very playful. She'd be just fine for you. |
Personally when I am ask this question I think the more the merrier :) Mine play soooo well together and keep eachother company and snuggle at night in bed together. I find there is less anxiety issues too. I also LOVE watching them play:p They can be sooooo comical when there is two haha. I think if your time permits it, I would go for it! I think Charlie would love a brother or sister. personally I'd do it now while he's young. Good luck in what you decide and post pics if you add! :p Quote:

I had the bright idea of getting a playmate for my Q.T. I bought her a little brother because I was advised opposites get along better. Guess what. She can't stand him. Won't have anything to do with him even months layer. I can't leave them alone together because fights break out. But I am hoping this will change once lil brother is older. He's 7mths she's around 16mths. So before you get another one make sure your furbaby likes him/her:) |
I agree with Breny, the more the merrier. I have been fortunate that all my dogs get along. I think unless the dog is very people oriented that having another one would be a great idea. Good luck with finding a playmate for Charlie. Sharon Owned by Lexie, Dante, Dazzles, Bling and Jazzi |
When I thought that Cookie needed a friend, we looked and looked! Before we would get her a friend we let her meet them and watched how they interacted with each other. We were blessed to get Izzy (Cookies little sister!) and it has been such a blessing! They play with each other, sleep with each other and I know that Cookie is happier having Izzy with her!:p |
Charlie is much happier now that he has Natalie to play with. They are halarious. snuggle together, play together and even eat together. He seems much happier now. Charlie is 2 years old and Natalie is a year old. |
Yes! Charlie needs a playmate! I got my second yorkie when my first turned one year. I feel like this was the perfect time to get another yorkie because Leo was already trained and had developed his personality. This way, we knew that we would need another high energy small yorkie, and he could teach the new puppy some of his habits and traits. Today they couldnt be happier. They are always together, playing, cuddling, and keeping each other company. I would never want my yorkie to be left alone all day long with no company when im not able to be with him. This way, they will always have at least one friend around. |
Thanks for all the input, everyone! The more we think about it, the more it sounds like the best idea... We have a couple of ideas as far as rescues go that are right around his weight and age, we will just have to see who Charlie picks! Thanks for all the great input! |
