Seeking new addition So I am the happy owner of a 3 year old neutered male yorkiepoo who is a cool silver and black color. I would love a gold yorkie girl to match with my diffrent color scheme. Problem is finding one who isn't 2g's or over. I also would love to find one in the California area or close enough to drive to so she doesn't have to be shipped. I've searched online and tried YTCA but they seem to only have e-mails and not web sites which seems like it'd take forever. If anyone knows any good breeders that have gold or blonde yorkies it'd be great to hear from you. Thanks in advance! |
Good luck in your search I hope you find what you are looking for! |
First off welcome to YT! Yes, Yorkies marketed as "rare" can carry a heavy price tag. That, among other things, is one of the common complaints people generally have about those who 'specialize' in off-colored Yorkies. I am afraid I don't have any suggestions of breeders for you, just wanted to welcome you, wish you luck with your search and offer a few introductory pieces of advice. 1) You are wasting your time trying to contact anyone associated with YTCA. The YTCA promotes the standard of the Yorkie and does not condone breeding for other colors. 2) Please be very cautious with ANY breeder you consider, even those here on YT. (Don't assume one has good breeding ethics just because they are members here.) Also, be wary of any offers you get--ESPECIALLY via private message--offering you pups for sale. Many operate 'behind the scenes' to keep their...questionable...ethics from being brought to light. Again, welcome and good luck! |
Thanks for the warning, I didn't know where else to look besides just typing into the search and then who knows what your gonna get. I had a good breeder for my dog now but she only does hybrids so now I am at square one trying to look for a reputable one. I might have to fly somewhere, for how big california is we don't seem to have many yorkie breeders here. Thanks for the info though! |
golden yorkies I know a reputable breeder in your area that has some goldens available. If you are not looking to breed, the price is reasonable. Her dogs have clean bloodlines and are raised underfoot. Furthermore, she is in California. I have flown there and purchased pups from her in the past. From your post, I couldn't tell if you were wanting a breeding companion or just a companion for your male. |
gold yorkies I also know a reputable small home breeder who occassionally has gold yorkies. you're welcome to pm me if you do not have one already! She does not live in California though. |
i have a friend here i va that breeds some really nice blondes and goldens and has some now..pm me if you want her contact info |

If you want a Yorkie, why not go for one that is a good representative of the breed? There are some good Yorkie breeders here on YT -- as someone already mentioned, they may not all be great. So, check them out, get references. Word of mouth references can tell you quite a lot. You can ask on here bout any breeder and those who know them or have had experience with them are usually glad to pass on info. Good luck in your search! |
YTCA is the best place to look for a good breeder. Websites are fine but beware of the one's that sell on those sites and use paypal,(hate when they have a picture of a puppy next to a can of soup) :( I would email the YTCA members in your area and I'm sure they will help direct you. Take your time and do your homework before buying. Good Luck....:) |

I think websites can be good too but have yet to see a good breeder actualy selling from them. That is sort of a red flag. Anyone who pay pals/credit cards out their puppies without researching the potential owner does not care enough about their puppies. It should make the new owner ask themselves what other short cuts have been taken. Some sites provide a lot of great information and include an application that the breeder takes into consideration when choosing new owners. The application is usually their initial step only. You can tell by reading through which ones are particular about where their pups go. Those are usually the good breeders. |
If a person has an IQ in the normal range, and have been on this site for 6 months+, you can tell who the really great Breeders are that breed to standard, and who spend the time answering questions and offering assistance during times of stress. I do not care what state they are in, I would get on a plane and fly there so they could meet me. Then again, that is only my opinion. Soup is for eating, not putting a dog in for a photo. Prefer any color, as long as it fits the standard. If noy, you should do a rescue and help save a life. |

Thanks for all the info. I am not looking to breed, but I want a healthy pet. I have searched the rescues but it's hard. So many of them are senior or have behavior issues, not that I wouldn't work through some issues but I know my limit. I have thought about fostering through a yorkie rescue to see what it's like but I worry about the problems I might run into. I just want a dog exactly like my dog, but female and maybe more gold or blonde, I know I can't carbon copy him.....but its nice to dream. Anyways thanks for all the help. I am still looking. |
