IMO, it would be very advantages to take some time, find an ethical breeder, and get a healthy puppy. I have one that I have spent close to $10,000 to keep her alive and happy. There are so many breeders......byb's and puppy millers who sell puppies that will eventually have life threatening illnesses. Pet stores are also poor places to purchase a Yorkie. Most of those puppies come from mills and are sick when you bring them home. So, please take some time. It is well worth it. Here is a post that I normally post on Newbies' pages when I know they are looking for a puppy: Before you purchase a little Yorkie, please read these links: Buying a dog? Beware of breeder Teacup Yorkies - Health Issues Why You Shouldn't Buy a Puppy Online! Prisoners of Greed - Puppy Mill List Buying a Yorkie? READ THIS FIRST! Yorkshire Terrier Club of America – Breeder Referrals How much is a Yorkie puppy? Cutting Corners So be very careful. Do lots of research. Stay far away from pet stores and on-line breeders at all costs. Puppy mill operators have learned to talk the talk of good breeders. Their web sites are usually wonderful, alluring, and have positive feedback from supposed customers. Make sure that you ALWAYS are able to go to the breeder's home and see the environment that your furbaby has been raised in. It's worth the extra effort, time, and money. Remember that anyone may join YorkieTalk.......back-yard-breeders and puppy mill owners. Best wishes in your search. ~Joanne~ |

How is that list of puppy mills (Prisoners of Greed) compiled? Is it anyone who has a USDA license? I actually know personally one of the people on that list. I didn't even know they sold dogs, I thought it was goats or livestock. I'm shocked at the numbers in certain states. Arkansas, Missouri, etc. |

Missouri is known as the Puppymill Capital of the US. |
Wow, the things you learn about people. I had no idea. Is that USDA licensing for dogs only or does it include all animals? |
I see the name of the puppy mill that Lily came from on that list :( |
I saw Sophie Kates also, Onion Creek Kennel in Arkansas - Donna Jeremiah. Sophie Kate was a rehome to me and it just makes me sick to think she was born in a Puppy Mill. I promise her all the time that I will spend the rest of her life making it up to her. |
Let\'s be optimistic..Maybe they want unspay for another reason? |
