Looking for a Yorkie (and need some guidance) Hello all. I know I'm the new guy around here so I'm sorry if this isn't in the right section or whatnot. I joined the site to find out more info about Yorkies. I'm 20 years old and will be 21 in June and I live here in NY in an apartment with my parents. For years I've tried hard to convince them to get a dog because I always wanted one. I don't want one to just look at. I will take complete responsibility and care for it. I will love it with all my might because I really love dogs and Yorkies are a special breed. Anyway, they finally budged and allowed me to get one provided I find a part time job to pay for any of its expenses. Right now I'm close to finding something and I hope I do so soon because I would like to get a Yorkie sooner rather than later. The dog will rarely ever be alone. When I'm at work, my mom will be home to care for the dog and I will only be at classes for 2 hours a day 3 days out of the week. My dad will also be home as well. My dog will definitely not be neglected. I would like to rescue a dog rather than buy from a breeder. I'm also totally against buying from a pet store. I would prefer a younger adult dog over 1 years old simply because we rent and my parents have been giving me a hard time about training a puppy with carpet in the home. If we owned the home, we'd rip them out. But at this point, we are stuck with them until we move out from here which wont be happening any time soon. So I would prefer to get a Yorkie that isn't a pup since it would be housetrained. I'm not lazy and I know I'm asking to have my cake and eat it too in this situation but it's the only way I can get a dog and I've wanted one for years. I understand there is a Rescue section on this forum that I will be checking out when I secure a job. I'm just in this section to kind of get your views on my whole situation. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to get a Yorkie? Basically, any answers or comments on this you have for me will help. Sorry for the long post. I'm hoping that this is the beginning of me posting on here frequently should I adopt a Yorkie in the near future. It's a really great, active and informative forum. |
I want to clarify: I am not against buying from a breeder but only from the trusted members of this website. The people here truly care about the well-being of their pets and I will trust them. I live in Queens, NY and I am looking for a young adult Yorkie. I hope someone can help me here. I don't really know where else to go. I'm a little lost on this. I've owned pets before but never a dog. I've care for dogs before and never owned any as a pet. I do know the responsibility of taking care of a Yorkie and I am certainly ready for it. I just need someone to help me out here. Anything will be appreciated. |
I’ve been looking for a Yorkie to adopt for my mother-in-law who lives in Long Island, NY. I went to petfinder.com and saw a few available young adult Yorkies around where you live. I recommend you to check their website. Good luck! Petfinder.com |
