Looking For Roxy's New Bestest Friend In PA! I am looking for a furbaby for my little Roxy. A little over a year ago, I thought about getting another Yorkie, but we had too many problems going on. My stepfather, diagnosed with cancer, he is in stage 3b right now and getting chemo... A few weeks ago, our Chihuahua passed away. Her name was Mutzie (Little Kisses). When she was born, she was the runt... she started losing weight and we had to force feed her with an eye dropper every few hours. She lived, and we kept her... for 13 years... She lived a good life and my stepfather treated her like she was a daughter to him. He was devastated when she had to be put to sleep because she was taking siezures daily and she was really suffering. It was heartbreaking... for all of us. Not only for just us, but for Roxy as well. Mutzie was the only playmate she really had. Although Mutzie was older and had bad hips, they would bark back and forth at each other and Roxy would chase her and they would play. I miss her... but no matter what... I want Roxy to be happy. I want her to have someone to be youthful with her and play with her. So, now, I think that its the right time. Roxy will be 3 years old and Sunday, and we are having a big birthday party for her. :) (You know I will take pictures!)... And my stepfather was talking the other day about Yorkies he saw listed at the Laundromat.... (Ever since I got Roxy, my family has become a Yorkie family... they just adore her.) So, we are trying to find preferrably, a little girl, I have TONS of girly clothes... and someone who isnt too big, simply just because Roxy is only 3lbs, and I dont want her to get hurt during play. Even our friends 7lb Yorkie was too much for her to handle... I didnt think it would be that much of a difference, but it definitely was. So, I am hoping to find someone local, simply because I will not have a puppy shipped to me, either that or if they would meet me somewhere or travel to me, that would be great. I cant pay an arm and a leg, but of course I am willing to pay. I want her to be happy, and that is my biggest thing, and I would hope anybody selling their puppy would care more about her (or him) being in a good place with someone that knows what theyre doing more than someone just willing to shell out huge bucks. I would rather save that money for vet bills and such... Roxy is always taken care of. I actually do like puppies that are a bit older, so dont let me saying "puppy" full you, I call them all puppies... :) I got Roxy when she was 6 months, and I dont mind getting a puppy who is older, even a few years. As long as they are friendly, and Roxy loves them, thats all that matters to me... and that they are both safe. Thanks for reading, I tend to go on and on... but its so important to me. She is my only child, and probably the closest thing I will ever have to one... I adore her. -Jenny |
Good luck in your search for Roxy's new BFF. You sound like a wonderful mommy to your babies. |
I have a little boy looking for his forever home :) He will be 15 weeks old this Sunday. He is WELL socialized. loving, pee pad trained and just wants to give love!!! I am in Michigan and welcome you to come to my home to meet me and pick him up! I am not firm on his price for the perfect loving forever home!!! |
I would love to meet him, but Michigan is just too far for me to travel, and I definitely wouldnt want to have a baby shipped to me. I would feel so terrible. I worry about Roxy being in a car with her daddy without me, let alone a baby flying all by themselves. lol. I really would love to see them, and you sound like a fantastic foster mum. :) Wish you lived closer. And thanks LuckyLady, you have no idea how much that means to me. I love my baby so much... I adore her. If I didnt have her, I think Id be lost, and I feel like some ppl just dont understand that. They think I'm crazy for loving my dog as much as I do... I am not sure what to think about ppl who dont attach themselves like I do, Im not sure which one is wrong or right. All I know is that I thank God everyday he brought her into my life, and when I wake up to her little kisses on my face and laugh, it starts the day out perfectly for me. |
I have a baby boy.. he wont be ready to go until the end of January. |
Check out this thread. Kelly is great to work with and my Saydee is amazing. I believe Kelly might be bringing one of the boys up to PA next week, so this might work out for you as well. :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-carolina.html |
Please visit the YTCA.org breeder referral page.....You have some of the best breeders listed there. |

I have a lady that you can contact, she is great. Susan Mitchell. She is in PA. I was talking with her about one of her little boys. It is such a hard decision but she is wonderful to speak with and willing to meet you half way for a fee. Her site is HOME |
I checked out Susan Mitchell and she is advertising a "teacup" which is a red flag to me and says several litters a year and uses the word "kennel." I don't know anything about her, but I didn't get a good feeling from her website. |

1 Attachment(s) Hi I have a 3 month old Yorkie/Lhasa-poo who needs a new home. She loves other dogs & we can give you all her supplies (collar/leash/toys/carrier/ect). We need to find her a new home since our land lord changed her dog policy. We're asking $300. Here's a pic. We're located in NY but will come to you |

I didn't agree with some of her site but I looked her name up on YT and there was topics about her and her pups and they were good reviews. I believe they go by Crestwing or something similar. |
I did hear good things about Crestwing, but I didn't think they were the same. That "teacup" thing is an advertising ploy and always gets my back up. |

I know what you mean . But yes it is the same lady so I am not sure why she uses the term . |
Well, the main reasons I decided to not consider the above listing, was because one, the teacup thing, plus, I am sorry, but I dont understand how some of these ppl can breed their dogs for 4 or 5 years, and then once theyre done breeding them, just get rid of them and sell them for no other reason other than they cant breed them anymore. They should be their family, and they should love them their whole lives. Secondly, when I saw they were selling a Yorkie for $7500, it completely made me not want to buy a dog from them. When you make a price that high and so far out of someones range except for exceptionally wealthy ppl... My car didnt even cost half that much... then you obviously are more worried about cash than the welfare of the puppy. You're basically looking for a Paris Hilton to buy your dog. I just hope that someone with money AND love can afford that dog. I refuse to spend anything over $1000. I would rather the person I am getting the dog from know that I can love my dog, spend time with them, and afford their vet bills, and not just the dog. I got Roxy for $600 and she is barely 4lbs. The reason I got her for that price was because the woman I bought her from knew that I just adored her and wanted her more than anything, so she gave me a reasonable price. She just wanted to make sure the person that loved her got her... and I am almost sure if I couldnt have afforded that, she might have went down quite a bit lower. It was a mutual agreement... Roxy is priceless to me, but I am glad that instead of paying off a dog for years upon years, I can instead pay for their shots and vet bills. Sorry, its something I take pretty seriously. No dog should be free unless there is a good reason or a gift to someone you KNOW is going to take care of it... but cute adorable love shouldnt put you or the dog on the streets cause you cant afford it either. On a different note... Thank you for all your help. All of you. I really appreciate it all, not only the suggestions, but the feedback on all of your suggestions. I just want to make the best decision for Roxy. I am currently considering a Yorkie that a woman near me has that I really would love to have, but I am scared that she isnt completely committed. I can tell she loves her dog, but she also wants to do whats best for her, which I am grateful for that she doesnt want to just give her dog to the first person who can hand her over a load of cash. She wants to make sure that they will both be happy. Any more suggestions, and I would love to take them into consideration. :) |

If breeders didn't do this their would be very few yorkies to buy. I have not had to do this yet but the time will come. I love all my girls like crazy and I will find someone will love them as I do. If I don't do this either I will have 100 dogs in my house or I will have to stop breeding. So don't think that breeders that place their adults don't love them.. it is far from the truth. |
There are times that breeders will place their retired girls and boys in approved homes. Several reasons why. One is that they are still young enough to enjoy the love and life of being someone's much beloved pet. I've yet to do this and I'm sure that it's a very difficult thing to do as a breeder. But, in speaking to those fellow breeder/exhibitors that have done this, it is done with the dogs welfare at heart. That is their first consideration, but if they didn't it would be overrun with dogs with the possibility of being up against local animal control laws. What could be worse than have animal control come in and confiscate all your dogs and them facing uthinizing or placing one or two dogs in loving pet homes? By the way you live in the East Coast...a region where the cost of buying a yorkie is a bit higher.....Not saying that you can't find that wonderful yorkie for $1,000.00, but it will be difficult to do so from a reputable breeder who does everything possible to insure that her dogs are the healthest and best respresentation of the breed.. |
Well, I got Roxy for $600 and she is barely 4lbs. The woman I got her from was a good person who adored Roxy and didnt want to part with her, she told me though that she knew that she would have a good home and made me guarantee her that I wouldnt breed her, simply due to her small stature. Of course I agreed. At first when I thought about getting a Yorkie, I thought about breeding, but when I found Roxy... she just means so much to me. I cant imagine parting with Roxy for any reason. Even when I die I want her ashes to be placed with mine. She is my child, and literally getting rid of her would probably kill me as if she was my child. I'd feel like I was selling my kid. I didnt mean to upset anybody at all... but I can not picture doing this for myself. We had Chihuahua puppies years ago, my mother bred Chihuahuas. Turns out we didnt make any money because we ended up making sure they went to ppl that were family because we couldnt bear to part with them. We even kept the runt of our last litter, which was Mutzie. I know many breeders can not keep a dog that they cant breed simply for the fact they dont want to get attached, and many of them dont name the puppies so they dont get attached, and sell them at decent prices, but not too cheap, in order to make sure they get an appropriate home, which is what the woman I got from does. All her Yorkie, regardless of size, are between 500 and 1000. Females obviously more than males, but has never charged over 1000 for any dog, as she also breeds Maltese, and all her dogs are AKC. Ive been to her house, and she has a large yard thats fenced where all the dogs play, and I loved going there so much, I have taken Roxy back on occassion to see her. I am currently talking to a woman who got her Yorkie from the same woman, and she wants $650 for her 3lb Yorkie who might possibly even be Roxy's littermate. I am not trying to make anybody feel bad or anything... :( Just saying the idea of ever parting with Roxy would make me ill. If I would have bred her, I probably would have kept the puppies... and I never would have kept breeding if it meant parting with her. I'd stop breeding before it meant I had to get rid of my baby, just like if I had to get rid of my oldest kid to have another kid, Id stop having kids. I mean, I guess its great ppl can do that, or I wouldnt have Roxy... I'm just saying from my own personal point of view... I couldnt do it, and if having only 2 litters from my dog and that was it vs. getting rid of that dog and getting a new one to breed, Id stop breeding. She is laying beside me right now, and she will be until one of us dies. Then again, I am also one of those crazy ppl who think that my dog has just as much of a right, if not more of a right, to be in restaurants than ppls dirty little children... lol. :D I should live in France. lol. Anyways, I'm still checking around. I really want this little girl that might be Roxy's littermate, but I am not sure if this woman wants to part with her. She really loves her, and I am not sure if she is going to be alright with it. Also, I am going to look at a little boy Yorkie about 20 minutes from me in N. Huntingdon who is $550, 4.5lbs. I am excited... But STILL always keeping my eye out, I want to make that connection that I had with Roxy the first time I held her. :) But just know, I am glad there are breeders out there, cause if there werent I wouldnt have Roxy... and I hope I explained myself right... No more thumbs down I hope... lol. |
Breeders have no choice. If they kept every retired dog then how could they breed? It takes a strong devoted person to give up a dog that they obviously have bonded with. I am "fingers crossed" getting a 1 year old dog that the breeder I know will have a very hard time parting with him. But you can't keep ALL of them, some you need to let go. And that doesn't make a bad breeder. I only posted the site because I myself and doing my research and yes her site had some red flags perhaps but I emailed with her quite a bit and she was asking questions and very helpful lady. I also saw on here that people have gotten babies from her with no problems so I thought I'd suggest it since you are not willing to leave your state. Good luck in your search :) |
Puppy Were you able to find a playmate yet for Roxie? We live in PA near the MD line. I have a litter of 8 week old puppies. I still have a boy and girl available. They will be around 8 pounds when full grown. I know you were looking for a small one but perhaps you would consider a larger one. We have a 3 1/2 pound yorkie that is 11 years old. I understand how easy it is to fall in love with little ones but they do have more health issues. I have both the mother and the father here. Mom is 8 pounds and Dad is 5 1/2. I have 6 adults here ranging from the 3 1/2 to the 8 pounder. They all get along really well. I have never had a problem with any of the little ones being too much for 3 1/2 pounder. She rules the house and doesn't know how small she is. I am in no hurry to place my puppies so could hold on to the puppy till it was older for you. If you are interested let me know. My email is nitrothunder@mac.com if you want to write to me personally. Our puppies are raised with tender loving care and are very socialized with each other as well as with our adults. |
