Help! need a puppy in washington state Hey, I have been searching day and night for a furbaby. Its to the point that my fmaily thinks I am crazy. I havent been able to find any local dogs that are not too expensive (being a college student) or a scam from cameroon. I am in desperate need of two yorkies... one male for my mom, I am hoping to find one for her birthday March 19th and one for myself a female. If you could help me out I would appreciate it! |
Sorry I can't help you. I'm from Washington too and it's very hard to find good breeders here. Good luck and when you find one that feels right jump on it. Just be careful it's not a puppy mill and that the situation feels right. Good luck!!! |
Have you tried searching through your local classifieds and shelters? The A.S.P.C.A. seems to adopt them out fairly inexpensively while the S.P.C.A. up here in B.C. charges as much as buying one directly off of a breeder at times. At least if you purchased your guys off of the A.S.P.C.A with the usually low adoption fee, they should come spayed/neutered so you wouldn't have to incur that extra expense once you get them. Problem then is, you'll probably have to get funding from somewhere to get their teeth done at some point especially if they are younger ones you're adopting. With older ones, you can hope they were dropped off at the shelter after those details have been taken care of. Unless, of course, you were hoping to breed them, hence the boy for you mom, and a girl for yourself. In that case, I guess you'd have to look through the classifieds for rehomings or young pups from hobby or byb breeders in your area. Maybe try searching for pups from neighbouring states within driving distance from yourself so that you may check them out in person before buying. :) If your mom doesn't know that she'll be raising a pup, and is not prepared for that, maybe buying her something like a new iPhone would be a better idea for her birthday? Then you'd even have more funds available for yourself to choose the perfect girl yorkie with that increased budget. ;) |
Hello, Thank you for all your help. I am going to continue my search and hopefully find some. My mom is aware that I am looking, she wants one almost as bad as I do. We are not interested in breeding, we are going to have them fixed, though i understand your concerns.:) Thank you very much! |
sorry i wish i could help we have a litter but i am very far away! im in pa. renae |
Where in washington are you ? |
seattle area i live about 20 minutes north of seattle. everytime i find a puppy here its really a scam from cameroon. i am just losing faith |
I PM'ed you but here is a link to the breeder referall for Wa, if you are on a tighter budget I would ask some of these breeders if they are rehomming any young adults or "teenage" yorkies. Alot of times they will hold them back to show and for one reason or another it doesn't work out maybe the dog's color got too light, or they stopped growing early, or didn't like the ring etc... Their loss could be your gain;) Worth a phone call, sometimes they will be able to point you in the right direction, I know one lady that was selling a pup super cheap because of a slight overbite, still a beautiful pup. but anyway good luck on your search:)Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club |
I'd check with the shelters! With all the recent puppy mill rescues in Skagit County and Snohomish County, there's tons and tons of dogs in need of homes-- including some yorkies-- and supposedly a great number of the rescued dogs were pregnant, so you may even have a chance to get a puppy. I know that SPOT rescue (Saving Pets One at A Time (S.P.O.T.)) was one of the groups working to help the dogs that were rescued, and some of the dogs wound up at the Everett Animal Shelter... |
You can try Dog Adoption :: Search by breed, size, age and location. or Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder wish you best looking for your special ones.:aimeeyork |

Keep looking! It took me almost a year to find my baby. I was very lucky, I found her on craigslist... She was 2 years old.. and $450... 3.2lbs and absolutely the best. I'm trying to find her a friend... not finding anyone yet, but still looking. PS.. I'm also in WASHINGTON. Don't give up.. even if you don't get your baby by your mother's birthday... |
There are some cute pups on the Seattle Times Classifieds right now. Don't know anything about who's selling them and whether they are breeders but it might be worth checking out. |
There are SEVERAL posted on Kijiji USA Free Classifieds - Post & Search Free Classified Ads.. Just look under Seattle! |
