Most people are budgeted to what they can or want to spend on a Yorkie and I think if you are patient the right Yorkie at the right price will come around. Just because a Yorkie is reasonable does not mean it came from a bad place. Remember, people pay big bucks for Yorkies being bought through pet stores. Does this mean that they came from a good place? Answer, no. We all know that these dogs come from Puppymills. My advice, check out places and find a reputable breeder you are comfortable with and wait until he or she has a Yorkie in your price range. I haven't seen many Yorkies, let alone tiny Yories for $500 but I have seen very nice Yorkies that are of pet quality for this price. Most Yorkies that I've seen up for sale on YT range from $900 - $1200, but I have seen some for $500 too. Elaine |

I am new to this site too! Just came across it today. I currently have 5 pups that were born on March 25, so they are six weeks old today. (3 baby girls 2 baby boys!) I live in Las Vegas, so I am not that far from you in SoCal. If you are interested I will sell one of the boys for $1100 or a girl for $1300. They are UKC registered, and come from 2 healthy, loving, and beautiful parents. I am not necessarily a breeder, though this is the 4th litter that we have had. I'd be happy to supply you with references and pictures of the pups upon your request. It sounds like weight and size is an issue for you. The father is approximately 4-5 lbs and mom is 6-7 lbs. I cannot guarantee you that the average weight of the pups will be under 5-6 lbs. but I can tell you that a few of them are smaller than the others. I look forward to hearing from you! Cheryl |
Ekkkk!!! That's a lot of money for a backyard bred dog!! Quote:

Back Yard Breeder?? I don't believe a person who breeds their two loving pets could begin to be called a Back Yard Breeder. I know everyone has their opinions. My def is one who put's up many kennels in their yard. Or has up to 6 dogs in their home that breed them just for the money.:thumbdown Lexie & Little Bit:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Wow Fancy! I really appreciate the comment. Believe it or not I couldn't stop thinking about the arrogant words that were posted and directed toward me. This is my girls 4th litter. The amount of money that I was asking for the pups is exactly what I paid for mine! So, I didn't think I was out of line. The reason I don't say I am necessarily a "BREEDER" is because that was not my intent with my babies...but after the first litter, I enjoyed them so much that I decided not to fix him just yet. My babies are VERY WELL cared for and couldn't be loved any more than they are. The pups are loved and cared for equally. If that is the definition of a "BACKYARD BREEDER" than I guess I am guilty! I was not going to return to this website, but considering that everyone is not so cocky and opinionated about matters they are not educated about, I will enjoy the friendships that I make here. Thanks for your comment! :) |

OK - if you want to see a backyard breeder, come on down to southwest missouri and after you see these you'll never make the mistake again. Stuck in a singlewide trailer with no heat, no air stacked in cages one on top of another with the ones on top pooping and peeing on the ones below them. Sometimes they get fed, sometimes they don't. Some have no legs, no eyes, but as long as they can reproduce, they are kept. They are NEVER held, except to give shots and to breed. They are dirty, never groomed and run in circles over and over. It's terrible someone would assume another is a backyard breeder - shame on you. |

Sad, very sad. |
The only difference between a backyard breeder and a puppymill is that a puppymill is on a much bigger scale. The backyard breeder has only so much room to breed dogs so they compact them as much as they can. Same level of abuse, same horrible conditions.... |

Hi Kelly, Good luck with your puppy search! It can be really hard and so tempting to buy a sweet little one...just be sure to do your homework. Yorkies have several health issues that can be very expensive to treat to downright life threatening. There is a wealth of information on YT that you cannot find in books. Also if you get some spare time please visit Puppymills - Information about puppy mills and how to shut them down.. WARNING very sad but unfortunately a reality even for our precious Yorkies. Anyone advertising they are U.S.D.A. certified please do not do business with them and never buy from a pet store. |

Opps-Old thread |
2 Attachment(s) I was also told that there are no such things a Teacup Yorkies when I purchase my little one from the breeder and she stated that they do not even try to breed them small due to health issues. I was also told by a Yorkie owner that smaller yorkies tend to break their legs easy when jumping from chairs. I've had lil Storm for about 2 months now, he is small (2.6 lbs) and was told that he may not get any larger than 3lbs but he was the smallest in his litter. |
Oh yeah the lady that I purchase my Yorkie from does shipping for 250.00 I think. I purchased Storm for $675.00 because I purchase him for a pet and didn't pay for the full breeding rights. I'm not sure if I can post the link to her page but I will try. She was very friendly and even though she lives 1hr and 30 mins away from me she was willing to meet me half way but I was in luck she had an Adult Yorkie coming in so she had to come to the airport near me. Welcome to Sparkle of Glamour! Offering beautiful, healthy, happy yorkie puppies & RARE CHOCOLATE & CHOCOLATE PARTI YORKIES! |
