I spoke with several breeders who breed the Biewers along with several breeders who raise the parti/piebold yorkshires terriers. I sent them pictures of the kids abdomens where the speckling/ticking can be found. They helped to verify this for me. There were six puppies in this litter 1 of the males and two of the females have this unusual spotting. All three of these puppies also have a significant amount of white on the chest- stomach- and feet. Another female out of this male and another female also displayed this unusual pattern. This is the first that I have had this in my lines. I am not sure what I am going to do with the kids at this time. I have thought about purchasing a parti/male to breed to the gals or a parti/female to breed to the little guy. But this is very expensvie- my other option is to purchase male or female who also carry the gene and breed those together. My third option is to sell all of the ones that I have. More then likely I will not pursue this as my true interest is my standard color yorkies. I do not want to endanger my show and breeding plans because of these three. The YTCA frowns upon the natural gene occuring yorkies. |
I have a new pup that also has displayed the dominate white coloring her mother has some white on her as well, not as much as her daughter. I know they are very expensive. I have purchased some Biewers. I good bloodline yorkie can cost a pretty penny or two as well and I just purchased one of those two. Now not having anymore litters coming until early spring I will have to put purchasing two much off for a while I think. I am going to keep my girl. Do you still have your puppies I would love to see them (pictures) Thanks, Sue |
white having white on the chest does not mean they are a carrier. many yorkies have a small white locket on the chest. It is the speckling on the chest and tummy that is important. Yes I still have the kids at this point. As indicated in my last post-I doubt that I will keep them. I don't see them working into my present plans for my traditional blue and gold yorkies. I at first had wanted a partie color yorkie/ not a Biewer- I wanted it to look my kids- but have the different coloration. You should talk to Whispersmom or Yorkie Rose as they are very knowledgeble about the subject. |
"introduce the word pie-bald which means "marked with two different colors, esp. black and white, (commonly used in other animal breeding as well) this is where the white was introduced into the breed." Welcome to YT. I just re-read this post and am trying to see if I overlooked the part that explains how white was introduced at this time. The def of piebald could fit the Yorkie of standard colors as they have 2 different colors. Just curious where you found this info. I am searching all the time for facts about these younguns.. |
" I have been contacted by ppl that have been taken, they were sold dogs with wrong registries, they were give pictures of puppies of they were suppose to get and don't get the pup that was pictured. Also alot of poor quality dogs, sick dogs, ect..." I didn't realize there are so many Biewer owners around. Luckily, I have not seen these "knock-offs" but I am wondering what I could tell a person a way to apply what we know when they are judging the quality of a Biewer..Do you have something yo tell them that you would share with me? Even if you want to PM it to me.. |
I have gotten offers of Biewers for sale e-mailed to me from Germany. I have never requested info from them either. It was probably a mass type mailing. I think no matter which country you get a pup from you have to be careful. Breeders from other countries would be very hard to check on without a big travel expense. |

Right know Clara and I are going to keep the girls- Sage and Emily a while longer. I know that we are going to sell the male. Our cup runneth over with boys at this time. |
This is so interesting... do you have any pictures you could share of the speckling on the chest and tummy that you are describing? |
Thanks..I'm still confused as to what the difference is between a parti and a briewer is...I was just looking at the parti colored yorkies in someone's post and they are beyong belief also. I was leaning toward a "morkie" or a "shorkie" to get the color variations I was looking for in a pup but to see these furbabies makes me re-think my options and now I'm thinking I should adopt a parti or briewer! How big do both of these breeds get and do they shed much? Thanks! |

Why is it that a Parti colored yorkie be registered AKC? And A Biewer not? Is a parti color allowed in the ring? |
Here's what I know and please someone correct me if I'm wrong.. The Biewers cannot be registered as AKC because their parents are not AKC but German registered. The AKC doesn't recognize outside registry and the Biewers are not considered a recognized breed unto themselves or even as a designation within the yorkie breed(like long-coated chis/short coated chis). The piebald yorkies can be registered AKC if they come from AKC registered stock...the piebald color gets noted in the markings code. I guess you could take a piebald york into the ring, but they would be disqualified in conformation pretty quickly because the off color coat is regarded as a fault. I would imagine they might be allowed to compete in other events like agility...There are very experienced people on here who would know more about that than I. |

You have a fantastic understanding of the differance. I had thought that I wanted to be on the ground floor if the AKC would ever allow Parti - color /Piebald Yorkies be shown in conformation. If AKC accepts the Biewers it will be only as a new breed I/M/O. The parti color yorkie is open at this time as there is no standard stating how much white and where the coat must have the white coloration. In the Parti-Color Cockers there was no set amount of white or a set pattern. This is how I think they would handle the yokies. I am currently talking with the AKC about my Reggie cuase of the gene he carries and the ramifications of changing him from Blue and Gold to a Parti. on his registration. |
The female pup we just had just doesn't have the white chest, ( I know how some have the white patch on the chest and as they get older it goes away) the white is very prominent on her. All her nails are white, her back feet, her chest, stomach and her face. She as well displays what you refer to the speckling. The biewers have the "speckling" as well. I love to talk with others to share experiences, ect.. As well I have done extensive research on the biewers. Thanks for sharing with me. Sue |
