You're doing the right thing by getting the BAT done. The failure to thrive, lack of appetite, distended abdomen, and mental impairment worries potential buyers. And I'm sure that your vet told you that liver shunts cause low blood sugar which you have been very forthcoming about. You know about these things, you've mentioned them to various people so you aren't hiding it and you know that a BAT has to be done which you are going to do. You're doing what any responsible person would do  Another sign that you care about her well being. When you have the BAT results, you can give them to any potential owner as further proof that you aren't hiding anything. |

I think it will be fair to leave this thread for the interested buyer to ask questions to the op , I see a lot of people with different views and valid questions but not looking into buying at all. |
Yorkiegirl83 I agree. Thank you for saying it in such a nice way. My breeder is a farm girl who happens to be the vice pres of the company my dad is the pres. of. When she started this she was a lowly human resources officer. Anyway... her mother in law lives nxt door to her... she stay at home... takes care of the dogs during the day... Christy comes home... takes care of dogs... horses... after a long day at work. She makes excellent money as the vp of a major company...she does this for the love of the breed and of puppies she has had their great grand parents. I am trying to get her to sell on the internet so that she doesn't do that... but for now she is too tired to deal w/ people like some of these on here. She cries when she puts down any dog. She holds them til they are gone. Each dog is loved... their personality is recognized and they are not just left in cages all day. They live on a farm... they have built cover play areas.... different areas for puppies and adults...male and females... it is amazing. She is able to do this because she has had her in-laws right there. Under any other circumstance she couldn't breed. Someone is always w/ her dogs.... they are NEVER alone! She got into the business to try to put puppy mills out of business. If a pet store can get one through a broker from her... and it is healthy... and the same price as a puppy mill... they do... so little by little her work hurts the mills. I don't know what difference it makes if a breeder deals w/ a broker or not as long as the breeder follows through... knows they are taken care of... and she is a good responsible breeder. But if I had my rathers... I wouldn't do it that way. Since I know her... I know how it is.... and I know how great she is. The only way I could prove it to you all is by references... meeting my dogs... that kind of thing... which most of you can't do... I welcome any that can. And anyone near arkansas.... let me know... I will take you to the kennel next time I am down there.... fine by me. This facts are why I go out of my way to be more honest than most... I tell you everything ... good and bad... which may lose me sales... but means better homes for the babies. Anyway thanks for the nice way you approached your concerns |
Bye to this thread Just wanted to wish everyone a good day, I am not going to read anymore or post any more to this thread. Hoping for the best for this puppy. Patti |
no I wasn't I was actually talking about someone that asked me to give her to them... but I am not sure what you are talking about here: The failure to thrive, lack of appetite, distended abdomen, and mental impairment worries potential buyers. She thrives great... she is just small. She has a huge appetite for her size. She hasn't had a distended abdomen... except after she gulps water... which I was concerned about so I took her to the vet... they said it is like a baby that gets too much air and prescribed a water bottle vs bowl.... and it only happened when she was fighting for water (they all seem to want to eat and drink out of one... even though they have a food and water bowl each...lol). Mental impairment isn't exactly accurate... but I will have to let that go... because blood sugar does react that way. I called the vet she saw in Arkansas today. He said once she passed 8ounces she was making it.... she was eating and fine. There were no problems that would have him run test preimptively... her size happens now and then... just like "teapots".... it is rare... but does not mean they all have problems. This put my mind at ease to know the original vet didn't feel there was a problem. I know my vet here adored her... he has maltese. He didn't recommend any testing... but I will still call him. |
Thanks Miley's mom and Lorraine Lorraine... you seem very knowledgable...thank you for jumping in in a nice way. I talked to the vet today and he did warn me that small as well as very large yorkies can health problems. He however said that they can be fine and just small or just large. I don't know... this is why I am as honest as I can be. The breeder did want to keep her but I talked her out of it... I guess I wish I hadn't. My mom also wants it... maybe that is the way I'll go. I think everyone one here who buys a teeny tiny realizes that there could be potential health issues! Nikole |
Hha I don't think she was cuting anyone.... she just knows there are people in the world that want one this size just to be arm candy... like paris hilton... |
You told me she wasn't eating well. I gave your info to a couple of people I thought might be interested. They said that things like swollen belly, retarded, not growing were mentioned? I thought it was just proof that you were being honest with them and not trying to hide anything. |
