opinions, tips, critiques 4 Attachment(s) This is my show pup Charming, at free stack..i would like to ask for exhibitors opinions about his conformation (so far). his DOB: July 8, 2007, i have been using seabreeze oil (diluted) as his daily grooming spray. he will be entered for the first time in November as baby puppy (no points) just to get his feet wet. should i trim his coat so that it is even? or do i just let it be & trim when its almost to the ground? we have a small number of yorkie exhibitors (only 2-3) and i haven't seen them showing their puppies, because like my pups breeder said, he feels that a yorkie puppy is not as cute or beautiful compared to baby puppy entries of other breeds. But since we changed our group system (from AKC grouping to FCI), i feel i have a better chance competing for baby puppy with the other terriers (who have to be spunky & not really cutesy) FYI, am in manila which is why we have the baby puppy category..i understand not all countries have that category.. |
What a beautiful free stack! His topline and tailset look great to me. My only advise would be to only shave the top 1/3 portion of his ears. His ears are a bit lengthy and when the hair grows on the bottom of them it will make them look less severe. I always enter my pups in a puppy match first. It's less stressful and I want their first experience to be fun. It also helps you see your dog through others eyes. Good luck and have a ball! |
yes, i borrowed my friend's walh trimmer ( the one that looks like a pen) to trim his ears, but he doesn't behave..so am taking him to a groomer friend on saturday to trim his ears..do i just do the 1/3 top? or would it be better if i trim the whole thing? |
thanks for the compliment..i do hope he does that as well in the ring, and that the handler doesn't have to hold him still.. am getting a pro handler for him, because as of now, he associates me with playtime, and i have a hard time stacking him..will try to take a video of him moving during training..hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. |
ears You are going to have to allow the hair on the ears to regrow..do as LadyHawk said..only trim the last 1/3 of the tip...the ear will look much smaller and the furnishings will grow in soon enough to compensate...good luck |
thanks for the tips.. |

i don't keep him in wraps, since he removes them, but i DO put up his hair in ponytails (sectioned off), he doesn't mind THAT.. i give him solid gold sea meal as a supplement, and i feed him royal canin yorkie (breed specific) |

we need 5pts more for him to attain his Hall of Fame title... crossing fingers he finishes soon, so he can become the first EVER yorkie to attain the Hall of Fame title here in the Philippines.. |

Charm finished with a bang last sat, getting Best in Toy Group under Judge Bobby Tesoro He is now the FIRST HALL OF FAME Yorkshire Terrier in the Philippines! I would like to thank his breeder Noel Manankil of Ceres Yorkies for entrusting this little guy to me, and Jun Panlilio of Empee Yorkies (thru the wonders of the WWW) my guru, who gave me tips and advice on how best to present Charm. It took Charm 13 months (from March 2008-April 2009) to attain all his titles. |
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! He is one beautiful boy.... |
